If you're such a busy little bee that you can't sacrifice 15 minutes of your day, you should have planned to have money for a sitter or a nanny. Children are optional. When you have kids, you almost have to schedule everything you do. It's not the problem with the modern parent, it's a problem with today's society. Very few households have stay-at-home parents. You almost exclusively have two-income homes with both parents working frantically.

And Ivve, I know you don't have kids, so it's likely you won't know this. Finding a babysitter is never about money.

Not everyone has someone they can count on to watch their kid for 30 minutes while you run errands either. I'm sure very few do actually. Hell, not even everyone has a 2nd parent that their child can be left at home with(this is what we do when we go to wal-mart most of the time, one stays at home, other goes). It has nothing to do with being a loner, and when you have kids, you'll understand. Just because you have friends or relatives that live near you doesn't mean they have the time or the patience to keep your kid for you every time you have to go out in public, especially in impromptu circumstances.

Then don't have children, simply put.

Part of raising children is teaching them. If you take them to a restaurant and they start acting up, you take them outside to show them that is not acceptable behavior. As a child, I remember throwing a fit once at a restaurant. My father scooped me up and took me out to the car for 10-15 minutes. The embarrassment of being taken outside taught me the consequences of acting like a little shit. I remember throwing a tantrum because I wanted to go to the toy store first, and my mom would take me right back home. She didn't get her errands done, and I never threw that tantrum again. Too many kids these days have no idea what the hell consequence is.

No one has the "right" to dine at a establishment. If you do, use common sense and take temper tantrums outside. Too many parents just aren't parents, and are more childish than their children.

As for the article, the guy was definitely out of line. The guy should have slapped the crap out of the mom.

As an aside - Around my area the schools try to get kids to tell them if their parents are spanking them to file abuse charges. I've also recently heard reports from parents that the schools are now getting kids to report if their parents yell at them to go after emotional abuse...
