you know it takes like 30seconds to get what you need from the area and then leave, you dont have to stay there, thats what i meant by go to another section of the store.

I think your case is different. You could totally tell the parents "Please don't let your kids run around in the store" and they'd completely understand why you're asking them not to do this. In fact, since their kid is probably going to break something, you're actually doing them a favor, and it's not rude of you at all.
On the other hand, a person hitting a baby for crying in a store is just pretty much unthinkable. And I can't believe any of you think it's right what he did, or justified, or that he's a hero, or any of this shit. There is never an excuse to hit anyone else's kid no matter how annoying they might be to you.
And for those of you saying that you need to take your kid out of the store because it's causing a disruption? Want some more cheese with your fucking whine? My god. What puts your needs above their needs? Obviously you both need to be at the store, be a bigger person and just let it slide. Chances are you're never going to see that person again or their child, and you need to relax if you are thinking of hitting either one of them.
This isn't bad parenting either. Why is it the mom's fault that the kid is crying? Perhaps the kid wanted a toy that the kid didn't deserve or need or might even be dangerous for her. Isn't that good parenting to not let the kid have something that it doesn't need? But now the kid is crying, and it's suddenly TERRIBLE PARENTING because she doesn't LEAVE THE STORE? You guys are ridiculous.
Hitting a child is just wrong on any level. If someone attacked my kid, and yeah this was an attack, I would have called the police too. If my wife was there, I would have asked her to go to the front with our child, call the police, and I would beat the shit out of that guy. But not in front of my kid.
No worries, I am here to save the day.
@ the OP: man is a motherfucking HERO. He should get a medal. Fuck all of your screaming crying little hell-spawn. I wish more people would do this. Teach your kids to STFU or it's open season with the backhands.
And to Ivve: in some other lifetime, you and I will be on a porch swing in front of our house, throwing rocks at stupid people. It'll be wonderful.
Eighteen years is a long time to commit to, and it's going to overlap with some things no matter what stage of life you're in when they're born. If you have a kid at 23 and your career peaks when you're 35, you're going to miss out on their teenage years. It's just going to happen, and that's a pretty critical time in anyone's life. I really have a hard time believing that starting to have kids in your early 20s is a better choice than starting later.
Most people in their early 20s lack the maturity necessary to raise a responsible member of society; they are often barely one themselves. Many have little to no real life experience when they're ~22 years old. Most people don't leave mommy and daddy's house until they're at least 17-18 and anyone who has a shot at successfully supporting a kid subsequently spent several years in college after that. Transitioning from going to a 4 hour lecture with a hangover to being a good, responsible parent just seems to me like it is unlikely to happen within in a year or two. Not impossible, just unlikely.
The majority of parents I know regret having children as early as they did and feel like they could have accomplished more favorable circumstances for a child to be born into if they'd given it more time and planning. In fact, the majority of parents I know really weren't necessarily planning to have a child when they got pregnant. Sometimes, that's a huge fucking problem.
Throwing rocks on the internet. Real life is too scary.
Hell yes.
Being 100% honest, I think the woman in the news story is a moron. If someone threatened to hit any member of the party I was with, child or not, I would immediately look for security. The fact that he threatened to fucking hit her toddler is serious business, whether he planned to act on it or not; normal people may think it in their minds but it's another thing entirely to say it out loud, let alone really do it. You don't just continue about your day if someone's threatening to put the beatdown on your kids. That definitely makes me lean more toward the "probably another shitty, excuse-giving parent" thing than anything else.
Then she'll act out in public, and catch a backhand, and all will be well.
Say what?...a nine-year-old boy and his eleven-year-old uncle...
I told my wife about this story, and she said "FUCK THAT!" "I would have beat the shit out of that guy" Never piss off a Hispanic women. Shit will get serious.
