    Fan/hard drive/disk drive/FUBAR'd power/Display?

If it's still in warranty send it back, it's likely if it gets worse it might be quite a problem.

forgot to mention that after being on for a while, the noise stops but generally from when i turn it on and lasts a while from there.

Usually only takes 5 mins but in class today was on for a while and the bitch next to me was lookin more agitated than an old racist man w/ hemorrhoids.

You can get replacement fans if you're up to the job. It's likely that xillian might be right about a cracked fan blade, or maybe the bearings/bushings on the motor are dieing.

Hmm if it were cracked though wouldn't it just sound like that the whole time instead of on/off? And I think I'm dicked on the warranty. I'm reading their site now and its talking about needs to be registered within 30 days of purchase. Have had it for about 2 months now.

you'd think so, but i've had several cracked fans on my pcs, towers mind you not laptops, and the level of noise seems to be dictated by fan speed.
