Yeah, Black Mage in my previous linkshell had the best gear gil can buy. You'd think he'd know how the fuck to play the job...

    The linkshell only lasted about 2~ months, and in that time period, he Thunder IV'd or Burst II'd about 5-6 Darters @ Fafninr/Nidhogg, and all of them caused us either to wipe or to flail. -.-;

I can't blame people who level jobs to join endgame, though. I mean, if it means i get to enjoy the game more by doing endgame and I just started playing the game, I'll ask around and try to figure out what job I should level to get the most out of the game, and level the jobs I "enjoy" later. For instance, a friend of mine just recently came back to the game and asked me what job he should level to get the most out of endgame and not have too much hassle. I told him to level BRD, since its almost always in high demand... and he got 75 within 2 weeks.

He's leveling RDM now, which to me isn't a bad move.

It pains me to see people come on DD jobs and suck dick at actually dealing damage, when our apoc DRK has to come BLM because one of the DDs that showed up "forgot" to change to BLM... on multiple occasions.

fucking hate people who thinks blu are a real solid DD compared to their better geared drk and war jobs
The fuck are you talking about. If his gear was meh, okay, but BLU can hold its own against (and very often, blow away) other DD on anything other than something like a Kirin zerg.

Way to miss the grand point: BLU or not, wiping to lolRR means something besides having a BLU is wrong.

Edit: And any good BLU will tell you that spamming the big three is a huge fucking waste of MP. Great to know how you think BLU works though.

I don't even set Hysteric Barrage unless I'm soloing Imps or fighting things with blunt weakness.

You guys are saying a top geared/skilled blu really compares and could even beat a top geared/skilled war/sam or sam/war?

No, I'm saying that if the difference between winning RR is someone coming BLU > WAR, then the group itself must have been shitty to begin with.

Both Aiur (the OP), the LS in which he participated in, and the said leader of this LS are friends of mine and are both right in their own manner. Yes, it was clear that the OP had reasons as far as the leader was concerned for not being 'worthy' of getting various items, but regardless of how you look at it, if a member has 70-80% attendance rate in an endgame LS for 5-6 months, they should be eligible for at least ONE item of worth. It was mentioned that this member AFK's at events. I can guarantee any member would be more willing to participate at events knowing there was at least some glimmer of hope in it for them. The fact the member was unwilling to participate to his fullest potential is primarily the leaders fault (under these circumstances). People are rational beings, just remember this.

As far as I'm aware, the two main things Aiur was after was an Ace's Helm (don't flame me for noting this item, I am aware of how this item drop is usually handled) and a Justice Torque. Whether or not he uses these items at events (for being primarily COR as opposed to SAM) shouldn't matter under these circumstances. At least let him LOT, that's usually enough to appease the situation. If he comes back and complains about not winning the lot, it's all up to luck at that point and he has no say in the matter. I will say... About Justice Torque. When I was still playing and in the shell, Aiur and another member of the LS (the name escapes me at the moment) took the time to farm up both a Fortitude and Justice pop in which the LS responded... "Just because he farmed the items does not mean he's going to lot the item." Several months later, after I had already quit FFXI, when a Justice Torque dropped, it was handed out to a member via the reason, "because he farmed most of the pop." Regardless of how you look at it, this is varying favoritism or severe dislike for one member or another. The key to being a GOOD LS leader is consistency, which I will say the current leader is not very consistent. The previous leader Liseth was incredibly accurate and consistent with gear hand outs which made her a great leader in my eyes. Chinchilla is a decent and new leader with things still to learn.

The LS uses a leader discrepancy lotting system (leader picks and chooses who deserves what). So it's on both participants shoulders as to determining who get's what. Members need to work hard, yet the leader needs to be fair. It is NOT fair to give one member Hydra Haubert, Hauteclaire, Bahamut's Mask, Ace's Helm, Justice Torque, Valor Surcoat, and various other items whilst other members got NOTHING.

Also, Aiur did NOT want a Dalmatica for his WHM. The Einherjar system which this LS uses is based off of points in which he had quite a number at the time he left the LS. I personally (ME, and I guarantee I know how to play this game better than 95% of the idiots that posted here), told him to attempt to get at least an item, SUCH AS DALMATICA, to spend his points and have a decent item to look forward to for leveling a job such as RDM or even BRD (I don't care what people say, BRD needs a refresh body for low man events). The only reason Aiur would even think of getting a Dalmatica is because of me (albeit at the time he only could use it for WHM, it wasn't intended for the WHM. It was intended to use his points and obtain a worthy piece of gear. The other alternative was E.Body which he -could not- use regardless of how hard he tried, without leveling. Not even for BST).

Last but not least, let me just respond to a few posts... About sucking 'penis' to gain favoritism. Pretty difficult in this situation, just saying. The leader is a woman after all.

To all who are wishing for drama, I have a 16 year old sister. Her life IS drama. It doesn't look fun at all, lol. If you want drama, get a sex change, drop a few years, and go back to High School. There's plenty there.

For the most part, I think I covered everything... There was no reason for this thread here on BG, but I do believe it's a good opportunity to show three things... 1&2) open the eyes of both the LS leader and member in which they could improve to potentially get what they want, and 3) address the immature members of BG to stop flaming hate messages that do not involve you at all. Post your opinion if you want, but don't flame the members on either side, it doesn't involve you.

Dont get me wrong, I think blu is an excellent versatile job, but to classify it as a top tier DD? Not by a longshot.

Uh, I'd be hard pressed to believe a blu beat a sam/war or war/sam(even drgs drks and non-kc rngs, for that matter) in einherjar, merits, any HNM(bar not being able to melee it if that's what your LS does), any BC/KC, anytime farming, all limbus paths(unless it's the melee immune gigas), uh.. I'm out of things.

Don't get too worked up about your blu not being the best DD out there. It just.. can't be when it's got a toolbox nearly as big as rdm/blm/sch/etc. I don't use blu at all ever unless I know head butt's going to rape face and come out being like +200% slow on a mob.

It's not an easy beat stick compared to a decked out DRK or WAR, nor is it the best tank, let a lone a nuker. It does however offer versatility beyond any other job class in the game. With that in mind, it's based solely on the player and not just gear/sub job alone.

Just in it's standard mold with a NIN subjob, an experienced BLU will be able to control the mob and literally lock it down while killing it. Not many physical DD jobs can do this. A NIN might come close, but no where close to a BLU. Other physical DD jobs depend on their 6-Hit build and ram a bus into a wall, where as a BLU has almost complete control of a mob's action. Because of this control, it's based on the player's response time, and not some F'n beat stick that's watching a Youtube video while meriting/farming. Though on HNMs, it's an entirely different story, but BLUs can easily adapt and become abusive. As seen on PW for example.

Problem is, the majority of the player base play BLU as a beatstick, like their other DD jobs, which BLU isn't suited for. If anything, it hurts our reputations to a very large degree when played incorrectly and promoting to the player base that they should only invite the original Zilart jobs over a LOLSPAMBIG3BLU.
