Playonline Virus (Mcafee FALSE POSITIVE)

I just got home from lunch and turned my desktop on, and my antivirus flags this upon loading POL.

The only sites I have visited today are BG, otherwiki, eGS, and FFXIAH. No clue how this made it to my PC. Running firefox and all that jazz, here is a pic of what popped. Luckily I have a security token and a decent AV that insta-zapped the trojan.

Seriously though, this is why I don't take people seriously when they say "My account was hacked on my 360!" or "I NEVER use the internet on this PC! It's FFXI onry1"


Seriously again, this could be a valid problem, has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I'm using trend micro and eset on my machines and haven't seen anything.

I guess sharing valid info with in FFXI community requires flame throughout every post. Then add eGS to the list of sites i visited. People go there, it may be infected, was all i saying.

Well, you can't say things like "I have only been to sites w, x and y." when site z is clearly present in your screenshot. It makes you look like a liar from the start. And thus someone could think you might have visited a bunch of other sites that you didn't list in the OP. It's just silly really.

i just got this too, i logged out and tried reopening PoL, mcafee caught it, wont let me reopen PoL also atm, says missing file

i think it's just that of the sites you have visited the one you failed to mention is the one most people trust the least.
would it surprise me if an RMT site had a virus on it? not in the least.

Consider it using our trolling powers to enforce quality control in the barrage of conflicting information we receive concerning FFXI related infections and compromised accounts.

dont think my PoL or Mcafee updated, this was random because i did /logout and then got a error code about your square enix id, password, or one-time password is incorrect
