Actually I heard there is Securom/DRM in the retail version of Borderlands. Steam version doesn't have either or.

Hey guys,

Yesterday we learned that a fraction of the PC copies of Borderlands were accidentally sold to consumers in some countries but that gamers could not activate their copies yet. Since we learned of this problem, we have been looking into the issue to find the best possible solution for everyone.

I'm going to be completely honest with you guys right now. It is not possible for us to move the planned release date of the game forward. We could not possibly get the games into stores worldwide and out for digital distribution any earlier than planned. Less than 1% of all copies were sold, and if we unlocked the game today, illegal versions would most likely appear on torrents by the evening. I am sure all of you want our PC launch to be as successful as possible, and we simply won't be able to manage that any earlier than already planned.

I want to apologize for those of you who have gotten the game ahead of our release date, and ask for your patience and understanding. The game will be ready in the US and Canada at midnight eastern standard time on Monday, October 26th, and internationally by Friday, October 30th.

100% confirmed no type of key/DRM technology used in any of the Borderlands PC/Trymedia copies.

First prints of the game had some sort of activation required apparently. The recent dump has none and will be the same ISO as the discs that are sold in stores next week.

Just an fyi for anyone that cares, if you want to get a quick copy via torrent. Hit up IPtorrents, ratio isn't fucked over there and a bunch of superseeders atm.

Plenty of direct downloads up around too. I've seen RS and Megaupload links for it already. I'm getting the entire thing in one direct DL from Сервис хранения информации @ EX.UA. Russian site but it's the same English dump.

There is no DRM in the Trymedia copy. Pretty sure I, along with 15,000+ other people would know right now.

As for other releases in the future to come, don't know about that.

So I've been playing for a couple days now and am 29. Something I've been wondering about, is there a reason some of the class mods are a lot more with the exact same stats on them? Or is it like the loading screens say and that some just cost more by certain companies? Just wondering if it has any actual affect on the game. Also does weapon proficiency do anything, or just there to show how much you use weapons.

P.S. I've found a few glitches so far, if you roll a car over while the 2nd player is in the map they will be unable to move, as the game leaves the map there, even though the map "goes away".

Anybody else with the ps3 version having sound issues? Ever since I plugged the hdmi in my ps3 I've been getting weird problems where my game's sound will go out completely or go off and on until I turn off the ps3 and turn it back on to fix it.

I didn't have this problem with uncharted 2 or anything else but when I started playing this the music goes off and on...this isn't normal is it?

Only thing I've noticed, is if you change the volume in game, and then reload your game it does not take those settings into affect other than the fact when you go into options the bars are where you set them.... good old blaring sound effects even if you turned them off earlier.

Tried changing the channel back and forth? My PS3 with HDMI randomly decides not to have sound when it changes resolution. So sometimes when a game starts it'll have no sound even though the XMB did. Returning to XMB and restarting it more often than not fixes it, but changing the channel back and forth works too. My TV is flaky as hell so I figured it was just that, but when I use my 360 with HDMI it never does it, so I dunno.

The higher your proficiency the more perks you get when using that weapon type. Like a level 5 pistol will get you +12% reload, +12% accuracy and +5% damage (those aren't the actual stats, but you get the idea).

For those who have beat it, how much is there past the Arid Badlands? My co-op group is level 20ish and just beat Sledge...about how much do we have left?
