It was fairly widespread, there was a giant topic about the problem in the PS3 section on Gearbox's forums. The Mad Moxxi and Knoxx patches rendered the game unplayable for quite a few people, and as soon as you delete the game data, the game plays normally (but you can't play online or any DLC, obviously).
I didn't have any issues with Moxxi, but I honestly didn't play through that one all the way. I've been meaning to pick this back up on the PS3 and get Knoxx and the like, but I didn't figure that anyone was still playing.
Are people still down to do this stuff?
Thanks for answering my dudes! Been soloing, defently going to do some co op soon.
Need to get that DLC soon.
It was inevitable but: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/bo...-year-edition/
Gearbox Software has just revealed the "Game of the Year Edition" of Borderlands via Twitter, announcing the re-release for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 12. The package will include all four DLC add-ons, plus a foldout map of the game's territories. The GOTY Edition will be priced at $60 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and $50 for PC.
Today's announcement also seems to confirm that the "Borderlands GOTY Official Strategy Guide" is real. The guide popped up last month in a GameStop listing (but has since been removed from the retailer's site).
I'll be scooping up the GOTY.
Ditto......once the price on it drops. Sorry, but I'm a cheapass, even on quality games, especially when they're already had a Steam sale that gave it all for $20 (minus the 4th pack which isn't out yet)
Was the PS3 port standard fare? I remember reading that one of the DLC broke the game for some people because of their PS3 model or something. Just not sure if I want to get PC to play with my brother, or just go PS3 since I'm able to kickback and relax while playing.
(I value my slouched + legs on desk position, which isn't possible with keyboard/mouse)
you could break the Secret Armory of General Knoxx by glitching through the floor, giving you unlimited time to open chests and make return visits, but it'd only fuck up your ability to complete the quest if you stepped into a certain room. This was on both versions though, and I dunno if it's been fixed yet.
Honestly at 60 bucks for game + all 4 DLCs, this game is kinda a steal. One of my favorite games from last year, and the DLC has added so much content and functionality to the game, especially Armory.
I have a level 61 Siren with some pretty awesome gear (although i lost my patience after 75 or so Crawmerax kills with no teal-rarity gear... not that the teal SMG is that great) and I already own the first 3 DLCs so I probably won't bother with the GOTY version, unless I switch over to PC/PS3 at some point. If anything I'll start a Mordecai up when the GOTY is released so I have more people to play with, didn't really do much multiplayer until Crawmerax came out anyway.
i played this on my friends xbox and i really want to get it for ps3 now that this is finally out. theres so many games i want to buy in the next 6 months ><
Oh and wat. 4 DLC? Ned, Moxxi, Knoxx? Am I missing one? Or that the unnamed 4th DLC that has yet to come?
Ninja claptrap DLC in September.
GOTY in October.
So apparently DLC4 info to be released at PAX tomorrow, pretty excited, very long overdue. If you look at how quickly, ZI, MM, and GK came out, this has been a long time coming. Here's to hoping for an early release (pre-halo reach) as I think that would probably be best from a marketing standpoint. Also, if you look at GBX's history with the DLC's, they usually give some info on them, and then randomly go "Oh, its coming out tomorrow." The real indication will be when they add the new achievements or trophies, then we will know for sure its only days away. Anyway, curious to see what you guys are hoping for in the new DLC, I know I want them to scale the entire game, or at least add a 3rd play through. I haven't fired up BL in months and I wouldn't mind running through vanilla BL so long as it was challenging again and the mobs didn't stop at level 50. Also hoping for a new rarity level, and some cool guns. Knoxx added some pretty badass guns like the Serpens, Nemesis, and whatnot. I have a pretty redic collection of guns for my solider which I posted several pages back in this thread sometime in Feb/March. Pretty sure some of them are legit constructs, and have minor tweaks. I know I had a buddy of mine mod my favorite Ogre so I could have 2 versions, one with a 2.1x scope, and one with iron sights. Reason being is this. When you full auto with an assault rifle in a game you join, the bullets seem to trail straight upwards, making it harder to full auto. When you host a game, or play offline, the recoil is normal. That said, it's much easier to full auto with an iron sight when you join a game than it is with a scope rifle, so I switch between the 2 depending on the situation.
I'm hoping they're going to tell us the exact release date tomorrow. I'm pretty sure they said September a few weeks ago but they didn't say what day. GOTY edition comes out on 10/12 so it obviously has to be before then.
Scaling the whole game and adding a 3rd playthrough would be awesome but I wouldn't cross my fingers. The one thing I want more than anything is more Crawmerax-style "HNM" mobs that take a while to kill and drop lots of loot. Maybe a giant fucking claptrap, that would be ridiculous.
I'm not so sure I want to see yet ANOTHER rarity tier when it's hard enough to get teal weapons to drop. Besides, there's only like 20 or so Teal weapons, if anything they'll probably just add more to those.
I agree with you on a few points. You're probably right, we don't really need another rarity level, but some more new pearls would be pretty awesome, so long as they make them as good as the last line-up of pearls. And yes, I am worried they won't scale the game, which would be a huge error in my eyes. In reality, it makes 95% of the game useless, save a few areas in knoxx, and the underdome. The thing that has me worried the most is for months after Knoxx's released people were demanding GBX to make a statement in regards to scaling, which they failed to do. Obviously, they are aware it has a lot of people unhappy, and this is probably the reason I haven't touched BL in months, but the game is just so damn good at times, just talking/thinking about it right now has me wanting to play it right now. Problem is, most of the good buddies I had on BL haven't played it in months either, and I don't have much luck joining random games. I always get some 13 year old kids babbling like retards telling me to give them weapons or they're going to kick me, seriously annoying.
More HNM style monsters would be badass, I must have killed him 200 times back when the DLC first came out, I'm just hoping they add more than 1 (which I think is pretty doubtful). Having 3-5 Crawmerax style mobs to go after would keep things fresh for quite some time IMO. I'd be down to play tonight, just like I said, its hard finding mature people to play with these days.
AdamF of Gearbox Software just posted over on the gbx forums in the DLC4 thread "Tuesday's are my favorite day of the week." Here's to hoping for an early release only ~2 days away.
I would fill buckets were that to happen.
