edit: Rebalancing (scaling?) announced as well.

Level cap will come via a free patch, and be separate from the DLC. Info still vague at this point, posting as I find out more.

During the Gearbox panel at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle this weekend, studio president Randy Pitchford announced Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, the fourth downloadable add-on pack for the game, will be released on Sept. 28, 2010.

Pitchford also had another surprise up his sleeve for fans by saying a new patch for Borderlands will be released that increases players' level cap to 69. Gearbox doesn't have a set release date for the patch, but Pitchford said they're aiming near the release date of the Claptrap DLC.

Claptrap's New Robot Revolution will be available for download on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $9.99. Gearbox previously announced a Game of the Year edition for Borderlands will be out on Oct. 12 that includes all four downloadable add-on packs for $59.99.

Honestly I'm equally excited for the free patch that will raise the level cap and fix the scaling issue. It means that we can go everywhere in the game and face enemies that are our level. This opens up loot hunting to the entire game, and not just 2-3 zones, fucking awesome. That coupled with all the new bosses we are going to see in the DLC, this announcement is full of win on so many levels. Very appropriate .gif Qal.

The increase is 8. If you don't have Knoxx, you are currently limited to 50. 50 plus 8 is 58 (max without Knoxx). If you have Knoxx, the current limit is 61. 61 plus 8 is 69.

Also confirmed: GOTY will include the regular game, all 4 dlc's, and a fold out map of borderlands areas.

Will suck if DLC comes out before new patch. I'd personally like to use the new DLC missions as a way of leveling up, if the DLC drops before the patch, I'll likely have all the DLC content done, and still be at level 61. Part of me is hoping (as well as some other posters speculating over at GBX's forums) that they make level 69 "unattainable" almost like 99 in Diablo II. I wouldn't mind if they added some real length to those levels and dropped their regular leveling up algorithms in lieu of this.

Maybe if he's fucking crazy like the white Claptrap in New Haven. I think that one was my favorite.
