If they kill Clay before season 5 ends, there might be (a little bit of) hope for season 6. Sure as fuck unhappy with the way things ended.

Even if they kill Clay during/at the end of season 5, I really can't see what is left worth watching. At least with Dexter we knew it was inevitable that what happened in the finale would happen, and we'd get a season dedicated to the aftermath, but once Clay dies, what's left to watch? I really don't want to watch a(nother) season of the Jax, Gemma, and Tara triangle of bitterness, omg I'm leaving, now I'm staying, nope leaving again, fuck it gonna stay in Charming, wahhh I killed Clay, I need to get away from Charming, RICO oh no, we hate the Mexicans again, can we be friends with the blacks again, nope, Charming is going to ruin our children's lives.

hmm I do agree with that; don't know, I always envisioned a season of Jax on the road/run being badass outlaw, after 1st or second SoA season. Instead I got the club on Ireland which was pretty bleh ._.

EXCLUSIVE: Bobby Simone is moving to the wrong side of the law. NYPD Blue alum Jimmy Smits is joining the upcoming fifth season of FX’s flagship drama Sons Of Anarchy for a major, season-long arc. On the dark biker soap, Smits will play Neron “Nero” Padilla, a Latino gangbanger with an exit strategy who becomes a dangerous mentor for Jax (Charlie Hunnam).

Smits has played bad guys before, most notably the scheming ADA Miguel Prado in another season-long arc on a gritty cable drama, Showtime’s Dexter, but this marks a rare departure from Smits’ trademark shirt-and-suit look associated with most of his characters. Nero is envisioned as being heavily tattooed and definitely won’t be wearing a suit. He also is expected to be as dark and possibly even darker than Prado, a role that earned Smits an Emmy nomination. In addition to NYPD Blue and Dexter, Smits’ series credits also include LA Law, for which he won an Emmy, The West Wing and Outlaw. He is with Brillstein Entertainment, UTA and attorney Tom Hoberman. SOA has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season, with a seventh cycle considered a given after series creator Kurt Sutter was recently signed to a three-year deal.

During a Comic-Con appearance, Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter's dropped more hints about the possibility of doing a prequel that would cover the formation and early days of the show's motorcycle club. He first floated the idea during PaleyFest—an appearance which Deadline said “had to set an unofficial PaleyFest panel record for most number of times the word ‘fuck’ and permutations of the word... were uttered”—and he's since brought it up with the network. Sutter has said that the prequel will be a vastly different, "more political and socially historical kind of show,” but that he won’t be giving it his full attention until Sons ends its run. Seeing as Sutter recently signed a deal with FX that will likely keep the show going through at least a seventh season, he should have plenty of time to work out any kinks.
At Comic-Con, Sutter also unveiled a seven-minute preview of SOA’s fifth-season premiere (coming up on September 11). Actually, it was seven minutes minus 30 seconds: Footage of “a sex scene involving Katey Sagal and season guest star Jimmy Smits” was blacked out after Comic-Con organizers deemed it “too explicit.” (Which tells you just what a rebel Kurt Sutter is: He shows up at publicity events armed with previews that are too hot to preview.) And Smits isn't the only confirmed guest star this season: TV Line reports that Joel McHale will also be on hand as “Warren, a handsome con man who picks the wrong person to double-cross.” Sagal, who’s married to Sutter, has already gone to Twitter to confirm McHale’s presence on the set, posting the above photo that suggests that he’s probably enjoying his break from working with Chevy Chase

so this is an odd bump because i don't really watch the show, and i think sometimes i'm even annoyed by it (usual SoA night like right now is my gf glued to the tv and i'm playing a game on the monitor) - i was wondering, has the excitement for this show died? she didn't even know it was starting again until i mentioned seeing the commercial last week.

It's not as big as it used to be in my opinion. I think the disappointing last season played a big part in that.
