How is anything about this game, save the augmenting system, more stressful than a shooting game lol? Rhetorical question btw.
Ya like I said, I'm quitting so hopefully others out there are trying but I doubt it. The thread was made so that hopefully the more people who knew how to lock 2hrs, and extreme detail about how AV works would bring about more people testing, but with AV that just isn't so, unfortunately. Anyway, like mojo and I said, the answer will almost definitely never be found unless SE gave another direct hint about it, but AV can be killed right this second despite not knowing how to lock/weaken Meteor. With enough competent players you can kill AV, I know that for a fact.
Can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes for AV's regen to be completely killed either in amount of nukes or in minutes of nuking it usually takes? Also, what is the absolute perfect holding setup for AV while killing regen and locking two hours?
Thank you for the first decent AV post in a while. I agree that, tips/tricks learned to hold AV are important to rerelease. Its obvious that AV is no joke. But, having this information readily accessable to players will only encourage people to play with this enemy.
Who knows what can come of it, if people more people were able to hold this mob. Giving out party setups, strategies, and tactics is an excellent idea. The higher end shell members all know this stuff already. Most do something similar to this. But, it would be interesting to see how other LS's differ from this.
So i can add to this thread in a little way:
Things to focus on with AV.
1) get use to holding it, not in bracelets mode.
2) get use to how long it takes to kill its regen off
3) get use to locking its two hours
If your LS can handle those three things, with moderate difficulty, then you are light years ahead of almost every LS out there. Infact, If you can do these three things you can bring AV down to 79% easily once you can handle these three things.
After 79% it gets meteor back. He can cast it at will, meteor is no longer tied to Manafont. The good news is that it isnt as strong as before. It is survivable, but it can really ruin your day if your LS is not fully prepared for them. If you can survive this, you can bring it down to 59%.
At 59% you come to Bracelets mode. This is where everyone is stuck. Meteor will wipe you. Its cast time is just too fast, instant cast. The damage dealt by meteor is much stronger as well. I would say that meteor damage in bracelet mode is similar to that of manafonted meteor. There have been many ideas floating around for how to deal with this stage of AV. Every method of enfeebling (silence and the like), diferant methods of knocking AV out of bracelets mode, utilizing a hight differential to nullify meteor for most party members, resist sets, -mdt/mdb sets, and even running away has been tried. But eventualy, meteor destroys even the best of runs.
It is a shame that every AV thread gets shitted up, instead of being filled with encouragement for people to attempt AV. Heck, even the LS i am in, BBQ, cries when someone wants to try something to AV; or everyone seems to just afk LOL. And Awesomeland has done very well on this fight. Its a shame. People laugh at LS's for making an attempt at AV, even though its thier first or second time. People give the harshest of comments towards these people that just want to help figure out this fight. Of course, these Linkshells will not have as successful runs as the Linkshells who have been fighting this enemy for years. But we dont need to mock them. Given enough tries at AV, theyll be just as good as the next group. And, they might find out something new as well.
Thanks, but really I am just as clueless as to what to try as anyone else lol. I just watched videos and fought a lot of AV and wrote down how it works, anyone could have done that. Hopefully someone randomly finds it, but I doubt it will happen.
The reason someone in the video knows when Meteor is about to happen is likely due to Manafont, if not it was pure luck;/.
I am pretty sure bracelets do not get stronger, you likely just had a different instance where many players were fully buffed or something along those lines.
Also frequency of Meteor doesn't change from 79-59% and so on, it is just random luck almost definitely. Has the choice between 5 spells to cast so you could be lucky and get no Meteor for a while realistically, that is if you assume they are all the same chance of being casted i.e. they each have a 20% chance. We saw back to back Meteor because we got extremely unlucky.
Wait a minute... someone in the video "predicted" a Meteor? I haven't read through this entire thread, but I assume this has been discussed to some degree? I would like to think that SE would have edited that out if the Meteors were "Scripted". It leads me to believe that AV, or something around him, has some kinda "tell" that indicates he's about to cast it, thereby refuting the argument that, since Meteor is Insta-Cast, it is not meant to be survived.
If SE gave us a way to KNOW when Meteor was coming, then, in my opinion, it is obvious that we are meant to avoid/resist it rather than weaken it's potency. In my view, this very strongly suggests that the brainstorming and attempts to weaken Meteor were a huge waste of time.
tl;dr: Make a Dark Resist/MDB/MDT- set and look for something that precedes every Meteor cast.
I think they are talking about http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PVJPB7TF and not the SE video.
Learn game mechanics. AV is still limited to the restriction of the 30 sec cooldown between each cast. (Besides manafont/chainspell/SV)
There might be a delay between the 30sec due to a tp move going off right before the cast. If it has tp and recast time is up it will always use tp move first then spell same as any other mob.
Solution: Every 30 sec swap to your magic def build and/or absorb party runs in (might aswell have them stay in anyways since no point in staying out)
Why isn't this locked yet?![]()
Ok I wasn't 100% accuracte when I said its 30 seconds. I was just giving an estimate since that isn't the actual time. The actual time is somewhere between 23-25 seconds now granted this information is based on several videos I've seen and just from fighting for a few minutes after love goes down. (Yes these weren't serious attempts but just analysis from the brief moments of appearance.)
Since people usually lack sources to back up information I'll provide mine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4V42P2EG-w
In the video he consistantly casts at about 23-25 second after to his original cast (sometimes its delayed due to doing a tp move).
NOW the part where you ARE right and I am wrong. I made the assumption of this carrying over to bracelet mode but you are saying this that his prior mechanics on recast time goes out the window. If this is true then yes past bracelet mode I am wrong.
The absorb part is just what people been spewing out for months on end regardless if they would actually absorb or not. I was just making the statement if an absorb party was to work (mathmatically I mean) then knowing the recast on spells so you can switch gear few seconds before the actual spell goes off provides a somewhat advantage.
Does that make more sense?
Edit: After reviewing YOUR video it is shown that it does do meteor back to back BUT there is a delay. The video it does meteor > aoe > pause > meteor. Easily making up ~20-25 seconds.
Meteor 53:18
Impact Stream 53:22~
Meteor 53:40
Notice the interval between each meteor, no other spells were casted just the Impact Stream. 22 seconds and the majority of the other spell intervals fall under 22-28 seconds. So your whole deal about back to back meteors instantly is bogus. (it does do it back to back but in the interval I specified earlier.)
with the new se actions on 3rd pt crap wouldnt it be a hoot if the key to beating av down legit was to just not have any windower/apps.
what i mean to say is after all the debate and info and death put in to just learning small things can anyone out there say with 100% confidence that they have tried av with no 3rd pt programs running? just a random thought on a sick day ^^;
It's crazy, but I actually had that same thought at one time or another. I remember reading back in the day that the clue to beating AV that supposedly existed within SE's video was in what "wasn't there", as opposed to what was. One thing that definitely isn't there is any sign of windower, APP, etc. With the mob's name being "Absolute Virtue", it would be funny if a 3rd party app somehow.... meh.
It's crazy. 'Nuff said.
I....
