Back on topic here, I know someone in your LS finished a yoichi. Does he get to use it much in that fight or does it not help much? Just curious as to how it stacks up against the two amano and the gungnir.

I don't think i've actually seen muhn use it yet, however I have missed the last few AV's (minus today) so maybe failure can shed some light via a parse if muhn actually used yoichi

Do you realize how much shit SMN has had to put up with? Horrible pet AI that STILL isn't fixed, only being able to attack once every 45 seconds AT BEST(And need I remind you of the time when we couldn't even do that because there was no rage/ward split), having a good 80% of our attacks and abilities be fucking worthless, having to deal with exp parties that don't utilize/respect/invite us, ect ect? Yeah, maybe SMN isn't the worst off job, but we sure as hell aren't top tier. The best we get is situational bullshit where we are vital. Guess what this is?

Let us have SOMETHING useful to do endgame please.

I see that you're upset that your (presumably) only job has little use in endgame. Don't worry so much about the nerf, you're not getting into a ls that can kill AV based off of having alexander. Your use is not affected in any way because any competent linkshell has enough SMN burned mules from last year to cover any amount of PDs. You should consider leveling another job if you're mad about your lack of utility for endgame.

You guys had to know this was coming and at 99 im pretty sure it will be mainstream for alot of endgame LS' to kill AV/PW.

AV/PW loot/difficulty is pretty much destined to become obselete and as far as difficulty goes, sure, you wont be seeing anyone duoing/soloing anytime soon. At 99
though, it might be possible to down it with much lower numbers than you'd expect.

As far as AV's items go, I personally think someone would need to be incredibly dumb or rich to be shelling out all they have on AV items. Those items will be replaced with newer and probably easier to get pieces with higher stats with the upcoming caps.

Not to mention, the market will likely be flooded with these items within the next 6-12 months. That sash will be more common than speed belt, and by a healthy amount.

I am not butthurt, I think its awesome its dying. Who cares how? I could give a fuck. I' just glad its dead. However, it is at the same time very much expected and not at all a huge surprise shells like vol etc can do this. 19 levels and better gear/merits will def. make it alot easier though too. (from 80)

People seem to be shocked or something or amazed. My only surprise is that more shells havent done this. Ex,Apathy,Disc etc etc, which is basically the tier type shells vol is.

EDIT: oh and I also don't think theres much skill involved in a zerg. Sure, it takes alot of communication and organzation. That is no different than KV/Dyna lord though. It's undoubtedly a bit more annoying with the smn rotation but anyone who does those fights freq can get a good idea what needs to be done in this fight the way they do it. You also need a small (large?) amount of luck!

Disagree 100% here. Killed KV the other day with rdm, sam, drk, thf dual boxing. I was thoroughly impressed with the communication and organization that goes into this:

There isn't much skill involved in FFXI. This is absolutely nothing like KV/DL though. Go try DL without CSS and without PD to start with. If you win, try it again with 1 DD (not a KC drk) and 3 BRDs and a PD. I think that's still easier than AV currently at 80. Also, luck makes up for imperfect play, if your damage is high enough, luck is not even a factor in this fight, which is what I've tried to say multiple times, but people who aren't consistently killing it want an excuse, and this is what they turn to. Fuck, we've failed 2 now to "bad luck", but both times it was at 1% and our damage output was slower than normal, so I'm gonna stick to luck covering for us doing a worse job elsewhere.

i think people would argue the simple " kill it before it kills you " way is valid and legit. its how 99% of ffxi mobs are handled. why should AV be an exception?

I'm not saying its not legit or shouldn't count or something. Hell I don't even play any more I was just curious really. But it's easy to see that this what not the way SE had intended for it to be killed ORIGINALLY, and well we all know SE has made several nerf's to keep it from being killed by "unintended" methods. And yes, a lot of mobs are in fact killed that way, but as we all know SE had some sort of weird fetish with AV, hence my original question.
