They're not lower than 0...
Also, if doing something with locking ALL of AVs 2hrs or doing anything to his wynavs is the key, it's very stupid to make the 'key' something that can be done away with, therefore ruining the outcome of the entire fight and nothing you can do to go back and fix it.
Okay I read the OP. We know how to lock AV 2hours now? Last time I zoned in on AV we were all spamming 2hrs whenever he used one to try and lock it and it never worked. Atleast that's what everyone said.
edit to virtuous saint
On Ragnarok when Solstice held it for 48hours straight we attempted what you're asking. Basically we spammed aspir on it (I never aspir'd more than 45ish) with about 8 black mages for a good hour. We used about 6 rangers rotating shadowbind to keep it in place. So after an hour of constant aspiring it still had MP. Just to give you an idea. This was in I think 2006.
edit2: Actually now that I think about it everyone but the rangers subbed BLM to help aspir.
You can aspir AV for 138, I've seen it many times, and my strategy is directly based on running it out of mp, and it would work a million times better than shadowbind aspiring. When AV uses Chainspell it casts 12-13spells in 1min, and based on .dats all of them have huge MP cost, in other words allowing it to Chainspell that frequently would run it out very quickly depending on how much it has. 90% of your Aspirs were terrible if you had people subbing BLM to aspir lol, you need considerable dark magic skill to aspir reliably. Also if you wiped once (don't know if you did) and AV lost all aggro it would have rested MP back. Not bragging about it (although it might look like it), just stating a fact that my strategy is essentially the best way to do it, and it would lose MP at an incredible rate.
Very true. If you can get it to chainspell a lot while aspir'n yea that'd definitely run it out of MP pretty quick if it can. I'd really like to see that tested again. I believe we were the only ones who ever did that. Well that actually mentioned it. Or that I've seen. I just remember my BLM at the time wasn't that gear'd.
edit: though my question on how to lock AV's 2hrs wasn't answered. Did we figure out how to? Or is it just all assumption.
Sorry double post delete please
Meteor seems like the only prob, I went back though old notes I kept and went over this again, which I think people are tending to look over the 3 arens which play a big role of some sort, more than Regen I'd say.
AV can use up to 3x the 2 hours @ upon a certain % (With w/e 2 hour u leave up), why not focus more on the 3 Aren that very would could stop AV vs his 2 hour in that focus and also may lead to a weaker version to Meteor.Originally Posted by Markus

Makes sense why SE left some of AV's 2 hours up at ending.
-We understand how to lock
-We are not sure weather how effective, by killing those Arens are more focus on Aren I'd say.
The aerns do nothing.... absolutely fucking nothing. Jesus christ.
Also, maybe I should mention, but the guy who originally posted that was lieing. He lied because that was his theory and he wanted people to believe it. It's now even more clearly a lie because what the "black shirted mercenary" said about locking two hours is simply not true.
It is unlikely because Kirin is a SMN and you can take him to 0MP and he will never cast again if I remember correctly (SMN have auto-refresh). I'm not saying AV definitely doesn't have auto-refresh tho. Either way, if you really tried I can almost guarantee you could deplete its MP to 0 in 105min, and if you did you merely aspir 1 time and you find if it has it or not.
Been a long time since I did FF math and have only sampled most of the thread so I have no idea if it's already been discussed, but if bracelets are indeed a MAB and not a +%, +INT, or base damage boost, wouldn't MDB gear/traits/abilities be super-effective? That being said, I have no idea how much it would hurt your Physical dmg or Dark resist to idle in an MDB set, since there's really no way of knowing when he's going to throw a Meteor/Comet at you.
Anyone have any SSs or video of AV taking damage in bracelets mode (from a zerg or even back in the day of locks occurring due to wynav kills)? At the moment, and I'm not sure if it's a gradual resist or if it just happens when bracelets come out, but it gains a massive resistance to all damage (aegis shield bash does like 130 or so, ES burst 2 for 500ish, etc). I'm pretty sure that this did not happen at all before the KC patch, as I don't recall noting any kind of reduced damage from KCing it towards the end.
It seems like it could be something done in error, as there is no reason for AV to have that kind of damage resistance when taking it down normally, and if it wasn't there before that patch, it's probably an issue that really needs to be addressed.
I would guess that it would be a buff when the bracelets come out. Normal aerns get buffs when they have bracelets out too. It was probably present during the KC attempts just not noticeable because of the way Souleater works.
