quit crying vs .. this is the key to av
I believe this may be the mythical emote everyone is referring to being in the video as an [sarcasm]obvious clue[/sarcasm] that this is something we were always supposed to be doing against AV:

2:02, there's 2 Taru RDMs in the righthand corner, the back one /cheers just after the PLD flashes AV. The taru also follows up with a /joy just before the movie fades to black and goes into the actual battle. This scene is in all 4 translations of the video, because this scene has no text so it is not language-specific. Was this a clue from the devs on how to handle AV? Eh, argue it either way you want to, this video is so old that there's really no proof for either side of the argument.
My personal opinion is that these players were emoting to be cute, not to give us a clue. Used to be a time that AV didn't spawn after every JoL, and these are people who wanted to fight AV. It doesn't take a large stretch of the imagination that a cutesie Taru would want to do a little happy dance when they manage to get AV to show up.
In all versions of the video, the start of AV fight, and the end of AV fight are the exact same.

Thats the picture of the taru doing a /cheer as AV pops.
At the end of the video you can see people doing /clap, /cheer, /wave, /hurray, /laugh, and i think /joy? Whatever the hume pld is doing at the end of the video (Male Hume humping motion)
How about discussion is postponed until someone actually tests it.
Probably /psych.
You're suggesting that you've never submitted a theory on AV that people thought sounded far-fetched, and you backed it up by saying essentially what I'm saying now - until disproven, it's a valid theory?
k.
Just wish I was in an LS (or hell...a server) that had a JoL pop and even a chance in hell of surviving 5 minutes against AV to even test this.
Barlett's post has been the most intersting out of the 50 pages of garbage and nothingness ; i've said a few times in the thread that past page 1 the thread contributed to nothing. Also, for me it's clear that SE is not expecting you to survive meteor, so you need to do something before the first or second 2H occurs .. which could be emote. Btw, anyone tried /emoting PW or the avatars when it pops them ?
*shrug* The execution of it is simple... just give it a couple shots. You could try emotes without ever changing your overall strategy (since they don't really have to interfere with your roles).
Um I hope to god the emotes works, and I'm not saying it wouldn't lol.... Not sure where you get these ideas but they are fun and cute. Also it takes less than 1min of fighting AV to prove/disprove it if it is in fact /cheer. Also I was told in a PM that players attempted it last night I believe it was, and the first few 2hrs were uses as normal, despite emotes, however there was 1 'readies' perfect dodge, however they said their THF likely did not emote, as they were playing a WHM mule and doing it on that.
I know this is jumping the shark a bit since a reliable way to get AV into the red bracelets isn't possible at this point. In the videos when AV is in the bracelet mode before hes defeated, the paladin that is tanking him is tanking backwards. That seems a little odd doesn't it?
@ the taru RDM emoting around 2:05... the taru SMN waves just before this, as JoL dies/AV pops. Hard to see exatly when because of huge JoL, so could just be a goodbye wave to JoL upon defeat.
Bartlett's theory is the most interesting thing on this thread now.
I know OP has information about AV and many of you have first or second hand experience, but none of you are killing it either, so it's best to take in any good theory that comes along, rather than auto-shooting it down.
Also the fact that emotes really are used on some NPCs to affect them, like Apkallu & Automaton assault and Odin. My advice to you Bartlett would be to not post a live video while you do this, but instead take screenshots and/or record your own video of what's going on. Bitches don't know how to act during live feeds.
