Bartlett thank you for testing. The few people who actually do sea and can attempt any upcoming strat, if SE lets us, appreciates it.

Actually a long time ago I was convinced 'AV readies 2hr > PC uses 2hr' was the only way to lock 2hrs because people seemingly couldn't get 'AV uses 2hr > PC uses 2hr to work'. I have personally seen 10-15 readies 2hrs in a row once, which ended in 'Absolute Virtue readies Lateral Slash' > 'Absolute Virtue uses Hundred Fists' (Only does Lateral Slash before Hundred Fists and Mijin I believe).
Some NMs you will see in dynamis will do '--- readies Eagle Eye Shot' but that is the only other instance of readies 2hr I believe, besides 'Pandemonium Warden readies Astral Flow' (It 'readies' AF to give you a small warning).
You seem to get way too many "readies" compared to others, so something is going on.
Actually this doesn't seem far off from the "Randomness" of FFXI. People HQing 3 times in a row, then 100+ fails, having Rampart spawn 6 NMs, then none at all your next 5 salvage attempts. Luck based streaks are a lot more common than actual percentages in this game. The whole "readies" thing could have been there since the beginning but was used by AV at a much less frequent rate (hi2u 18 hour fight) and the rate he "readies" may have just been shortened when he was reduced to 2 hours allowing us to notice it more.
My bad. You are right. PW does ready AF everytime.
It's strange that oneday you and I had 10more readies in a row and another day instant only.
So, in an easy way of thinking, what we do doesn't matter to readies and only when we fight does ?
Like I said before, the 2 tests a week ago both had lots of readies.
And the yesterday's test which was supposed to have the same outcome by the same acts had no readies.
I'm talking about the phase of the moon.
But adjusting to the Vana'diel time like "we have to gather early in the Monday morning to weaken AV because of the moon" sounds much stranger and unreasonable to me.
Oh but I know ppl don't want to fight Poroggo Madame on Lightningday.
(The effect of the moon on Madame is not cared about as much, though.)
Anyway, this is only my imagination and thx for your experience.
And I believe it, too. HF and Mijin are real glitches.
Add to Lateral Slash, their "uses" appears very early on the logs. It's almost the same timing as "readies".
So I think they are only 2hrs to lock easy "by watching the logs" without bots.
And also their "uses" which should correspond to "Special action effects on NPCs" corresponds to "Special actions started on NPCs" which is usually for "readies"
HF and Mijin's "uses" are actually regarded as "readies" in the chat filter. Really weird.
I understand what you say, but "9" things in a row still sound too many to me.
I posted this before, but in the last Vanatsu magazine interview,
the dv team says "we can't offer any more hint because weakning AV makes AV's value down"(literally translating),
NOT "we can't offer any more hint because we already opened them all".
They sound to me that they still have something they don't want to release.
Of course, it doesn't have to be the readies thing, though.
Did anyone ever cover the fact that in the video, they have 2 whm in melee range of AV at all times, and during bracelet mode a blm is underneath him? Seemed odd. Could be why rdm are meleeing him as well.
Odd the most damaging/annoying 2hr at AV's fingertips has someone of the same job under/in melee range at all times. why put your whm at that risk of aoe death unless it meant something?
I believe some of them are the camera person. They are obviously not in the alliance fighting AV because -aga spells and aoe TP moves did not hit them.
The question is will they get hit by Meteor? IIRC Meteor will land on any player within range. If this is true perhaps meteor has already been blocked before AV spawns in SE's video.
It's their game, they can make players immune just to be able to take a video, although you can wonder why they would let the camera player be visible at all .. Its probably easy for them to make a video without a character also.
On a totally different subject, would spells like frost work to lock regen ? It's got less MP cost and less recast than Blizzard, and obviously the advantage is no TP given.
btw VS and me duoed AV on Sunday... it was awesome and we both got sweet drops
On a real note, if we have now said /emote's dont do anything, what can be setting off these readies compared to the instant use? VS do you have the video of when it readies the 2h's? I think there are logs posted somewhere on members section, but was there a video? Also, was it Demo who has a video of readies?

Nvm ill just wait till im home...
Ok so i keep watching the video over and over trying to figure out what we are doing wrong or whats different, and the one thing that keeps coming to my mind is tanking position and i cant get it out of my head.
Why does SE tank JoL at melee range and not at casting range? Obviously SE knows that every single linkshell that kills JoL tanks it outside melee range and only gets hit with magic, but why haven't they changed that to make it draw in? Maybe SE doesn't care, but maybe it has a effect on AV? What if tanking it face to face and not having it cast a ton of magic makes a difference on how AV will react to his magic? Aka Meteor being stronger because JoL has been only casting magic.
Next time someone fights AV i would love to see them face tank JoL at its spawn location and also face tank AV at its spawn location and see if it makes any difference on how AV reacts. Just get a merit party to exp off the Aern's in the area the whole fight.
