Don't play it with your xbox online and on your online profile. Microsoft is handing permanent console bans for playing ODST early.

France started selling their ODST a few weeks back. Of course, it got pirated, and those people, apparently got banned.

Toulouse told Kotaku that he can't go into specifics about how they detect and how many they ban because they don't want to tip off pirates to their methods.

Anyone else curious what the reason is?

I can only think of two things:
1) They leaked a specific edition of the game (seperate from retail) out themselves that they can track and ban users based on that.

2) Every copy of the game was burned with a UIN, which is more trouble than it's worth, but makes it a joke to tell who's running a pirate copy when you see more than one of the same key online.

Will only take a couple seperate retail copies to debunk both of my theories anyhow.

MS already said they will not ban you if you have a legit copy. Its even in the message you quoted. Ill be getting my copy on the 16th.

TBH, I wouldn't trust a word out of MS's mouth. I've seen people banned for no reason, and violators keep going. Even if their statment says, we won't ban legit players/copies, you can sure bet if they fuck up, you won't get any help, and you'll be out an xbox for live.

It's more of an expansion from what im reading, one player campign is about 5hrs and has the halo 3 multiplayer, a waste of 60 bucks imo.

Yeah Im pretty sure its co-op, even then, 60 bucks for 5 hrs of co-op is a no thanks.

60 bucks for Halo Reach Beta Access, Firefight, 4-9 Hour campaign(Depending on difficulty chosen), all 3 old map packs and the new maps.

Campaign + Firefight $40
Halo Reach Beta Access $5
All 3 Map packs + the new one $15 bucks

That's how I break it down.... not saying this game is gonna be amazing but I think it justifies the 60 dollar price tag. I'm mainly buying it so it can hold me out til October when Borderlands/Alpha Protocol come out.

Edit: Not to mention I think I read somewhere that finding those collectible items in campaign opens up new areas to explore. Not sure it's true but if it is then it allows for some decent re-playability.

Well, never bought the addon map packs so that's some incentive to buy it tuesday, though only 6 hours of gameplay is meh

Meh, Halo 3's was between 5-10 hours first playthrough and I put way more into it thanks to co-op, scoring, all difficulties, etc. I'm not generally one to replay games, but I played through Halo 3's a whole bunch of times thanks to the fun as hell co-op. I wish they'd put as much love into the levels as they did Halo 1 and 2. So many secrets and easter eggs hidden in the both of them, it's funny to see Bungie saying that there's still stuff people haven't discovered in Halo 2 after all these years. Finding skulls on legendary in Halo 2 was some of the most fun I've had in a games story/campaign mode.

I'll definitely be picking this up, doubt I'll be paying for Live again though. Community will be as shitty as ever and I'm sure half my old friends don't play anymore for custom games.

Yeah good times I modded too lol. I had a fully automatic scorpion, could dual wield any weapons, automatic head shots, super speed/jump, etc lol. That was the most fun I've ever had on that game.
