Damn, that's awesome in HD.
I find it kind of funny that Kerb used "bleeding heart" to describe the position of allowing a cultural tradition to prevail over endangered status when it's already considered a "bleeding heart" position to give a shit about endangered species.
there's no reason to sound conservative when having a discussion about two conflicting left-leaning positions.
I'm impressed and surprised that there was a huge mob of people and boats all into the dolphin massacre. Whats the back story/deal with that? Do they sell the meat or is there some catch to it that isn't just for 'fun'? Cause if they are making profit on it I'm going to be interested to know how much each person is making.
Ill try to see if Nat Geo's website has it linked so I can post it. It was an hour long program over the summer.
This is how you really cook a turtle.
Natural predation is total bullshit. Doesn't that shark know those are endangered?
So what are the JPs and the tribal dudes gonna do when their "choice" of food goes extinct? Will they skip to the next big fish/turtle/animal and say that tradition demands it? at what point do we keep letting these people keep to their traditions and turn the other cheek? We're not living in the fucking stone ages anymore. Obviously these folks have the means to hunt other more proliferate animals. But its ok to kill off endangered species because their thousands of years of traditions demands it? Fuck.That.Noise.

Those sharks should be arrested and put in jail, srsly.
EDIT: I've found the culprits!

An interesting video. Hella graphic especially at the end when they tear off the shell. Being of chinese descent, i have seen and eaten my share of "wow" foods. Lol. To each there own when it comes to food.I love my porter house steak, but i also love my duck feet & jellyfish.
Why is what these guys do any different/worse from how Americans feed themselves? What specifically do you guys find repugnant about hunting an animal to extinction? The impact to said animals ecosystem after it is gone? The repercussions from how the developed world but particularly America eats meat has so much more of an impact on so many more ecosystems its not even funny. So why exactly do these guys need to stop what they are doing if we don't. I agree we don't live in the Stone Ages anymore so please get off your high horse and realize the way you eat is as unsustainable and barbaric as the way these guys do. When was the last you had a tuna fish sandwich or some nice tuna sushi? Congratulations, you've eaten an animal whose survival is as critical as anything the slants and tribal dudes eat.
oh mythe slants and tribal dudes eat
A page late but I thought I would point out that what we know as a cow is a domesticated animal and it does not exist in the wild. It is like corn. The original animal that we bred cows from a long time ago is very different from the cows we have today. So really a farmed cow is the only type of cow... excluding worshiped and pet cows.
Also I think everyone should be concerned about endangered animals if not for the survival of the species but for the selfish reason of wanting it to be around longer to be able to eat it. Aboriginal and tribal situations where small groups of people have permission to eat a controversial animal like whale or turtle is not causing extinction of the animal. They have been consuming those animals for thousands of years on a sustainable level. The only reason why it is an issue all of a sudden is because of mass fishing/murdering of said animal from industrialized nations like Japan and others.
