Title Screen Music

I don't know if this is advanced, if it has been asked anywhere before, or if it is even possible.. Is there any way to change or remove the title screen music in game? I am sick of waking up my g/f at night while muling.

Thanks in advance - Please give specific instructions if this is complicated.

It amazes me more people don't know about this. I had a new PC recently, so have been re-downloading everything, and couldn't remember what I used to make log-in music silent, so I asked on my LS forums. On two people knew what I was talking about, everyone else thought I was crazy 'cos let's face it, if you have mp3s/a dvd/cd/whatever on and you start muling, it sucks to pause it every time you pick a new character 'cos of the log-in music drowning everything else out.

edit - ringthree, if there's a way to turn down the ffxi title-screen/character select music, I couldn't find it on POL. You can mute the POL viewer BGM and sounds there, though, but that's something different.

The chcracter select and title screen are locked at full volume. Character and player volume settings aren't loaded until you log in with a character.

So I guess the answer I was hoping for was: Go into this folder -> Find this file -> And delete it.

Deleting the file will cause your game to crash, or other things... you need to replace the file with a silent march, as it's called in that dat pack. It's really easy actually, you just go into the FFXI Files and replace the music for the march with the silent one from the dat pack, and you're done, no more crazy loud login music.

Why would you delete the file when you can just turn down the POL music in POL?

Options > Viewer > Sound Settings > BGM Volume.

You can also change you BGM for POL in that same area.

What you said is true, you can mute the POL music in POL viewer options, but the OP is asking about FFXI title screen music

I am almost positive they are controlled by the same thing or there is another option to turn it down because I have done it before.
