I don't have one, so I wouldn't be able to test it~ But if you wanted to run the basic test you could do the following:

    1) DRK /w Dread Spikes
    or
    PLD /w Reprisal

    2) BRD /w various skill gears and Victory March.

Have the DRK or PLD only equip the haste helm~
Have the BRD sing Victory March /w +2 Instrument and +0 skill gear~
Have the DRK/PLD cast Dread Spikes/Reprisal~
Record the total sing/wind skill and recast from Dread Spikes/Reprisal~
(Note: Make sure to use the recast found in the menu when highlighting the spell~)
Increment Victory March by 1/1024 by equipping sing/wind skill~ (Use: http://www.trutlels.com/omenfiles/vicmarchchart.JPG for reference if you need~)
    Repeat~

When you find where the recast changes, you'll be able to deduce the exact value of haste from the helm~

(I think it's about time we revert the topic's attention back to Valhalla testing)
Anyone who's talking about "HNM blood" is taking this game way to seriously. Don't tell me, you have tally marks carved into your computer for how many Niddys, Aspies and KBs you've killed? I know this is an extremely late post but I just had to point out how funny that sounds. I realize it isn't a huge difference but FFXI is definitely not D&D, lol.

Anyways somewhat back on topic is it just me that doesn't understand why Valhalla gear has slow on it? Like seriously it's not nearly as rare as defending ring but takes far more people to get on average, gives 1/2 the bonus and still has a big negative. Like sure Koenig body won't reduce the kind of damage V.Body will but really is the +slow necessary?

I guess it's not like the slow has a large impact with Pld but do you think that SE put the slow on there to specifically deter Wars and Drks from wanting it? Personally I wish SE could have made the slow values haste so that it would have been more useful for other jobs and made for some interesting build options. Overall Valhalla albeit very useful in certain situations is just another example of the gear added later in FFXI that is just not on par with other things added previously. Valkyrie's Fork is literally the best polearm before mythic/relic why isn't the rest of Odin's gear equally as impressive?

You'd be amazed, there's some LS websites that even assign numbers to their NQ Behes and Adamantoises >_>

But I'm sure that my joyeuse has seen at least 70% more HNM blood than his hauteclaire, what with the occasionally attacks twice and all

I really don't think the slow is really that much of a detriment. There are plenty of other ways to cap your MDT, and PDT sets are really only useful for macros and for when you're blood-tanking a fight in its entirety, which really just doesn't happen very often.

I was suggesting to Sath that he could test using Reprisal and Hecatomb gear to see if he can find a point where the recast changes with turban but not with +5% MKD hat, or vice versa.

Would that not work the same? He's got +1'D hands/feet, figured that could help narrow it down some.

homerun did some testing on MKD Head, and PM'd me the results:

    Code:
    skill wind 230 singing 248 recast: 2:32
    skill wind 230 singing 251 recast: 2:31
    Total Skill: 478 (109/1024) - 2:32 Recast
    Total Skill: 479 (110/1024) - 2:31 Recast

50/1024 ends up making this work:

    109 + 50 = 159/1024 Total Haste
    (1-159/1024) * 180 = 152.05

    110 + 50 = 160/1024 Total Haste
    (1-160/1024) * 180 = 151.875

Turban and MKD Haste+5% Helm are the same haste value~

(Credit goes to homerun for the testing~)

Do your JP Paladins have a fetish for Homam Head too? Seriously, the JP LSs must celebrate every time Omega gives them double head.

Nah, homam gives haste, they want slow.

Clearly they're just playing the game on "hard mode" without the crutch of Haste.

    Clearly.
