most of the other guards yell at 'em but that just makes them more aggressive and rebellious; I grew up skating and my brothers were skaters so I can't just be a dick to them

Come be a cashier in Belgium Howie, they sit on stools and just whoosh your stuff by and then you have to pack it into bags you brought yourself or ask politely for a bag at which point they then get to judge you by the fact that you're not an environmentally conscious person who brings their own bags and then charge you 50c for a bag and then you swear that next time you will bring your own.

Also in my little supermarket the condoms and lube are behind the counter so you have to ask specifically for them. I can imagine it would be quite intimidating but maybe that's because I don't know the French for "condoms" and "lube".

Seriously though I feel these ladies (they're always ladies here) really judge your bag choice (if you bring bags from a different supermarket for e.g.) and how you pack them (usually you are hurrying as much as you can so you don't hold the queue up!).

Shopping at the markets is more fun anyway :D
