nomnomnomnom
My 5s team got to 2K tonight, next time we play we'll get to 2200 and I'll get my arena master title.
Good players had that shit season 5
SUCK MY DICK I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU STUPID FACE ROLLING FUCKS WITH INFINITE MANA AND INFINITE FUCKING CONTROL AND INFINITE FUCKING IMMUNITIES AND ESCAPES I DON'T GIVE A FUCK BLIZZARD HAS FUCKING DOWNS THEY CAN'T BALANCE SHIT HEALERS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GETTING ATTACKED GUESS WE'LL JUST MAKE SHAMANS DRUIDS AND PALADINS IMMUNE TO SNARES AND NOT GIVE PRIESTS ANYTHING OH FUCK A PRIEST IS TRYING TO CAST SOMETHING BETTER GIVE MELEE A 5 SECOND INTERRUPT ON A 10 SECOND COOLDOWN OH HEY YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE SINCE PRIESTS ARE GETTING HIT THE MOST WE BETTER GIVE THEM THE LEAST AMOUNT OF ARMOR AND SINCE THEY HAVE THE WORST MANA REGEN IN THE GAME WE BETTER MAKE SURE THEIR SPELLS COST THE MOST
I didn't have a steady internet connection S5, I got 2500+ 3s and 2200 2s S6 but I didn't know any of the good players to get a 5s team going, now it's S7 and I'm getting my fucking title
Not like it matters I'm not going to wear it over Battlemaster anyways.
How do you handle getting trained in arenas? I pretty much hit the floor after 20 seconds, if I make it that long. I'm sitting at 950 resil, 28k health, 2.8k spellpower. I'm pretty sure it's just that priests really are that underbalanced, but I hope there's something I'm missing. Yeah, I'm popping all of my cooldowns, but there's not much I can do with interrupts, stuns and purges.
The real shame of it is that we both know priests can't receive any buffs. If they do, they need to find a way to nerf RMP synergy a bit.
It's funny because in all of the high rated teams I've played, our general strategy is CC the healer and focus one DPS to force him defensive, effectively making it 3v1. Unless the healer is a priest, then the strategy is zerg the priest.Originally Posted by Nestre

I run disc/ret/frost, so I have hand of freedom, hand of protection, hand of sacrifice, cleanses, and constant constant constant mage peels.
Priests need to be buffed, mages need to be nerfed hardcore. There you go, RMP fixed. And while you're at it, fix the other caster DPS that can global somebody with about 3 seconds of set-up. Fix the fact that mages, warlocks, and druids can keep people CC'd indefinitely. Maybe fix the fact that kick, mind freeze, and pummel prevent you from casting for 50% of the time and counterspell and shocks keep you interrupted for 30% of the time. Also maaaaaaybeeeeeeee fix the fact that every other fucking healer literally has infinite mana. Fix everything about this stupid shitty game.
The best I can say is if you're getting purged, your partners aren't putting out enough pressure(this isn't entirely true, I know full well that there can be plenty of time to dispel in between heals). The best defense is a good offense, if you can force the other team to turtle then you relieve a ton of pressure on yourself and your teammates. The only classes I find myself feeling really threatened by are warriors, rogues, and hunters. Their MS effects coupled with their insane damage can easily put you in a bad situation. Fortunately, rogues die pretty easily once their defensive cooldowns run out, warriors are easily forced defensive, and hunters have a dead zone.
As far as stats go, I have 1100 resil, glyph of inner fire puts me at 33% physical damage reduction, and I have 28K health self-buffed. I only have 2200 SP with inner fire up, insanely low I know, but I've always found that SP scales terribly and isn't worth gem slots, enchants, or trinkets. Instead I enchant for stam/resil and I gem for intellect. I'm sitting at 21K+ mana with no buffs and I'm up to 24K+ with kings and arcane INT. I use the Spark of Hope trinket because it is ridiculous at helping me last longer in arena. Once I get my Relentless Chest next Tuesday I'll have something like 250 mp5/500 mana regen. It doesn't sound that impressive, but after running 2 seasons with full crit gear and not even taking Meditation because my mana regen was under 100, I can definitely tell the difference. Even with all my enhanced mana and mana regen, we've won quite a few fights right as I hit empty. I value the longevity infinitely more than a bit of throughput. IF YOU WANT MY ADVICE, GEAR TO OUTLAST, NOT TO HEAL A TINY BIT HARDER. You won't be winning a mana war straight up, but you'll be able to last long enough to score a kill.
Yeah, I figured as much. Pretty much agree with you on all points. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some priest secret I was missing.
I gem/heal in all crit/sp gear because I intended to do arenas as shadow, but most people don't desire it.. so I adapt. I'm mainly talking for 3s, 5s are not an issue and 2s don't matter. I would consider going more spirit for the longevity.. but when I run a cleave for 3s and I never run out of mana during fights, it seems pointless.
Hunters are definitely my bane, more than anything. I can't ever LOS them and their damage is in such a short burst. My team doesn't have much peels (dk+war) so our comp relies on them pretty much destroying their healer or making a hard switch. The DK does a good job at doing some defensive grips for me and the warrior will occasionally intervene + fear.
5s on the other hand, I feel I'm able to shine. Although I have close to zero mana regen, I'm able to make my mana stretch until the very end. We're running rdruid, war, lock, retadin, priest. I pretty much spend the first half of the entire game trying to dispel off the other teams buffs to prep for the lust so I can remove that asap. Between that and defensive dispels/heals, there's my utility. I find 5s pretty enjoyable and our team is doing quite well. Should be able to hit 2k easily since we've been facing 1900-2400 rated teams and performing reasonably well and winning.
I have a full crit set for shadow, and I believe I only have about 20% crit and 2800 SP. I've also tested the damage difference with varying levels of spellpower, and even a 500 spellpower difference is only about a 100-200~ point change in damage. It's very underwhelming. With average levels of resilience, you're only going to have a 5-10% crit chance even if you stack crit completely. Not worth gearing for IMO.
Cleaving might be over quickly, but you have to consider the possibility of cross kills. If your 3v3 match comes down to a 2v2 and you're out of mana and you have 0 regen, you're going to get stomped by any non-healer priest and most healer priests because the majority gear for spirit.
Death knights have arguably the best peels in the game, as long as you're making sure to keep hand of freedom dispelled off the target. I can't imagine your comp having any trouble whatsoever staying right up in a hunter's face.
In 5s, 90% of your job is to dispel. If you can keep abolish up, or flame shock/immolate, or frost mage freeze effects off, you're gimping incoming damage enormously. If you can keep druid hots, sacred shield, or priest spells off, then you're amplifying outgoing damage. Dispelling can make all the difference on whether or not your teammates or your enemies are the ones being killed in a global.
I was able to get Rivendare's mount yesterday after I got home from work. I'm now 1/143. Go me. Sadly we weren't so lucky when we did a time Culling of Stratholme. Had to pug a dps who couldn't quite understand the concept of don't run ahead of the tank and aggro everything and not run back to the group. Guy caused two wipes so we booted him.
rofl I just saw your sig Krye, it's blocked at work, that's awesome haha
- Improved Devouring Plague: This spell now deals 10/20/30% of its total periodic effect instantly, up from 5/10/15%.
- Shadowform: This talent also now causes Devouring Plague, Shadow Word: Pain, and Vampiric Touch to benefit from haste. Both the period length and the duration of these spells will be reduced by haste. In addition, the mana cost has been reduced from 32% to 13% of base mana.
- Vampiric Embrace: This ability is now provides a 30-minute buff that cannot be dispelled, instead of a target debuff.
Glyphs
- Glyph of Mind Flay now Increases the damage done by your Mind Flay spell by 10% when your target is afflicted with Shadow Word: Pain.
- Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain changed to - The periodic damage ticks of your Shadow Word: Pain spell restore 1% of your base mana.
- Glyph of Shadow now increase your spell power by 30% of your spirit for 10 sec. (Up from 10%)
VE wtf
VE change means I no longer have to waste a global applying it to each target, now I just get healed for 25% of any damage I do without having to go through any hassle whatsoever.
Yeah I know
Priests gonna be OP
Honestly, that's not really going to be a big deal in PVP. It's going to be ridiculous for leveling up, once the expansion comes out. Honestly, I'll probably level just by killing mobs, I won't even bother with questing. I just cast VT and SW: P on a mob and it'll die by the time they wear off, so I can just run from mob to mob hitting them with two dots effectively killing them with two globals.
I'm more excited about the DP change. It already hits for 1200~ damage as a spammable instant cast ability. It won't be very mana efficient, but a 2500~ damage non-crit spammable instant ability is going to be OP as fuck.
Well I mean all those included... VE just icing since it can't be dispelled and it's a buff now. Good for you though, Spriests need some love.
