Love the way the base of my board looks, but I can't really snap pics of it right now. It's still wearing a thick, unscraped coat of wax to keep it from drying out over the warmer months, so it looks kinda shitty.

Edit: Wanted black bindings, but couldn't get them at the price I wanted in the size I needed (M). It's neat that the red on the bindings matches the red on my boots, but the white bindings look somewhat out of place. Wasn't prepared to plop down like $100 more just for a little better looking setup.

That leaving unscraped wax on the base for storage sounds like a good plan, I've never done it. Keeps edges from rusting too I bet.

That'd work, but I hate using solvents on my base if I can avoid it. In fact, I keep a shitty board laying around specifically for use on days when I know the snow's going to be utter garbage and gunk up my base.

I never used to do the "store it waxed" thing, but now that I've done it, I don't think I'll ever go back. It's great for keeping the base from drying out, and I'm firmly of the opinion that if you're going to plop down a not inconsiderable sum on a board, you should do what you can to make it last as long as possible (if only so it's in better shape to sell when you upgrade).

Doesn't really do that much for edges, but it certainly doesn't hurt anything. Newer Burton boards, especially their better ones, tend to use stainless edges, so I don't really worry about rust.

Edit (man, I do this a lot): WD-40 or light oil is probably a lot more effective at keeping edges from rusting, if it's a serious concern. Just give 'em a light wipe-down after you wax and before you store.

Been doing well this season. Went to Mountain Creek in NJ last night for a school trip. Needless to say it was shitty, but not as shitty as expected. The two other weeks I dedicated to snowboarding had storms come through in the middle of the week. Can never complain about fresh snow.

Oh, I can, if it falls after the groomer finishes in the morning. Powdery days suck when by noon it's all been scraped into soft ruts and shittastic moguls by non-carving skiers and snowboarders, which are invisible if the light isn't right. Having your outside ski punch through a rut when you're committed to a turn, falling in the backseat and your inside ski is hugely frustrating. It contributes heavily to my prejudice against the majority of snowboarders who ride poncy soft boot rigs, ruining all my goddamn corduroy by the time the lifts have been opened for an hour.

Aware that most of you guys are snowboarders, but whatever, fuck you, skiing's better.

Only been skiing once this season so far, but the conditions weren't bad for PA slopes.

I'm heading out to Park City, UT in < 2 weeks, gotta get some more time in to get my legs in shape.

I was actually up in Whistler a few years ago where they had gotten a decent amount of snow but by the time I got there they had had a week of rain, the whole mountain was like a block of ice. There was even dirt showing in spots, and this was in the winter not the spring.

I find it hard to believe it could be any worse than that up there right now.

Yeah, you are. Everywhere I've been, the snowboarders are typically casuals and they look like twats. I respect good 'boarders (particularly those who ride on hard boots; that shit is aces in my book) but all the same I've got bad memories of the snowboarding fad ruining my hometown hill which used to produce some of the best racers in Atlantic Canada.

I think thats the case anywhere you go sadly. My friends and I always point out the jackasses on the slopes. The ones wearing bright colors, wearing big patterned bags, and the latest cool gear that cant even skate let alone turn (slide or carve) or even make it down a trail. And this seems to be the continuing trend among the new boarders. They keep trying to look cool without actually being able to function.

And then theres the people that ski pants arent cool and just wear their $80 jeans. Those are the best ones.

Been a great season here in SoCal believe it or not, El Nino treating us very well. IIRC we've had about four storms hit us. I've got about two powder days in, not really my favorite... I really don't have a powder board in my quiver so that's probably why. Going through trees every now and then is always fun though.

Picked up my dream board and new bindings about a month ago(150 Rome Artifact 1985 + Union Contacts), it is the softest setup ever and by far the funnest board I've ever ridden. I focus mostly on rails and this board just slays them, the bindings have crazy flex too and compliment the board perfectly. Overall it's probably my favorite season thus far.

Also, lolVA winters, though we did actually get some snow this year.

I first learned to snowboard in VA. It didnt make any sense to me that VA had more snow than us in NY.

Injured my back around Thanksgiving, so I haven't gotten out yet. Good year to do it though, one of the worst winters in awhile in CO apparently.
