Refurbished RMT tell

You download the Chatmon.dll file and put it into your Windower/Plugins folder. After that, you need to make sure that it loads appropriately each and every time you start up FFXI via Windower.

Go to Windower/Scripts/Init.txt
Scroll down to where it says '//Load Plugins' and add the line: load chatmon
Save and Close

The first time you run chatmon, it will create a file called ChatMon.xml in your Plugins folder. This is where you can specify all the irritating noises that ChatMon makes if you get a tell, or a party invite, or hear your name in any form of chat.

Open ChatMon.dll with a text editing program. I use Notepad+, but Notepad should work fine too.

There will be an opening <Chatmon> and closing </chatmon> tag. Leave those.
Inside those tags will be <Settings />. There is no </settings> tag because everything in Settings is -supposed- to be on one line. You'll see a lot of tags like that if you spend a lot of time with SpellCast.

All you need to do to use ChatMon without all the irritating noises and bells and stuff is to delete everything in <settings /> except DisableOnFocus="False".

The stuff in green beneath the <settings /> but before the closing </chatmon> tag is nothing but comments. You can leave em or delete em, but they won't do anything anyway.

Also, according to the plugin description on the Windower website, you can NOT edit spamfilter.txt. This particular file is updated by Aikar (the creator) periodically and automatically updates your SpamFilter each time you reload Chatmon (which includes starting up FFXI via Windower).

In order to make the custom filtered list that you can edit at your leisure, you need to make a file called spamfilter_custom.txt in the plugins folder (described above). In this filter, you add words or phrases that ChatMon looks for, and if it finds a word or phrase that matches what is in your custom filter, it blocks the tell from even appearing on screen. Aikar can't update the main filter fast enough for these RMT tells, and you can't block them by name because they change names every five minutes, but if you get an obvious RMT tell with an obvious fake link, just open spamfilter_custom.txt, add the link to a new line, save and close, then open the windower console and type 'reload chatmon' (or //reload chatmon in the FFXI text box).

They're always away now so you can't send them nasty-grams. =P This is the easier way to get back at them.

Well unless I'm just a total retard, I think SE might have done something. I just tried to go to the playonline-ffxi site on my work computer to have a little fun with the RMT, putting in bogus POLIDs like Youradouche but I got this instead...

Anyways, either the RMT packed up and moved to another URL or SE's actually doing something to them.
