Kind of predictable... I was incredibly disappointed with how weak the mythological gods were. I mean really, did they think charging at Lucifer and punching him was going to work? Shouldn't they have had more powers than, say, the average demon?

Cast vs double angels the other episode was a purely melee fight.

I think it'd be too confusing to give everyone slightly different powers, easier to make it a simple strength, they probably have powers if they were facing normal beings...but they probably sorta cancel each other out, sorta like they all have force powers but it'd be silly to just throw each other away, so why not ignore the force powers altogether?

As well, I'm pretty sure big angels can probably just wave and kill average demons, so the fact that the most powerful angel (ok, 2nd most powerful?) was actually swinging and swinging hard probably means a good bit.

The imbalance between the Gods' powers were the only thing that made me scrunch my nose up at any point during this episode. Everything else was great. I loved seeing Lucifer kick some ass. And yay for Gabriel taking a stand on the human side of things - even if it was pretty predictable by that point that it wouldn't end well for him. XD

Gotta say though, the first fake-out death was the best one he's done so far. The second time I was hoping he was faking again, until I saw the burnt-out wing marks.

...on behalf of my Nordic peeps I'm offended that Baldur had a British accent and Odin did not, and neither of them sounded or even looked even remotely Nordic. For that matter, everyone were speaking flawless English except world turtle guy (Zao Shen?).

I've read a few blogs and stuff speculating that there's a reason they're killing off all these characters. The Supernatural producers have said that a season 6 would go back to a more basic format, and go back to the root of the show, it being about the two brothers, rabble rabble rabble, and that they're definitely wrapping up the apocalypse storyline this season. Some people think what they're doing right now is cleaning up all the "loose ends" of the characters who were major players during the apocalypse storyline (Ellen, Jo, Anna, Zach, Gabriel), which also means that Adam, Castiel and Bobby are in *ominous voice* grave danger, and whether they live or die depend on how much the producers feel like they would contribute to a season 6, or how easy they could "ditch" them from the main (or highly recurring) cast billing without anyone going "Wow, we haven't seen this character in a long-ass time, where is (s)he?"

Of course, that's all hypothetical, and it could simply just mean that Kripke likes killing characters that the audience gets attached to.

Really liked this episode, as it gets closer to the end of this season the story just keeps getting better. I think the imbalance in the powers of the gods was something that was meant to happen really, Lucifer said something to Mercury along the lines of "This is why you forfeited this planet to us all that time ago", I get the feeling that the angels were just more powerful than the "old" gods which is why they are no longer worshiped. That was my take on it anyway, could be way off!

Really want to see how this ends now, having to wait a week between Eps is killing me. We have a few Eps of tracking down the remaining two horsemen, the attempt to trap Lucifer back into his cage, which will fail, and then a dramatic ending. Hopefully Cas and Bobby will survive the character culling, Cas is brilliant and I find him hilarious and Bobby is very much one of the main characters, even when he isn't even around.

Just watched this episode since I was out at the time last night of it's airing, and my god, this is what episode 100 should have been. Super fantastic episode and definately geeked for the rest of the season, sucks it's only three episodes left though.

Except that at least 2 of them, Kali & Ganesh, ARE currently worshipped by a very very large number of people. I have to write it off as simply an extreme bias on the part of the writers to christianity myths. Personally I would have prefered a more epic showdown with Lucifer having to call in his legions from hell and/or the remaining horsemen to prevail. Kali should have proved, at the very least, to be an even match with Luci.

Mark Sheppard/Crowley saved it from complete suckage. I enjoyed his pet hellhound. I didn't enjoy the execution of the plot.

So. Brady refuses to talk, so they "screw him for eternity" and that magically makes him give up Pestilence's location? What on earth did Brady think was gonna happen once he'd done that? If he was really a "look out for number one" kinda demon like Crowley (the way Crowley said), he wouldn't have done it for a mercy kill, and he was already screwed for eternity.

One of the weakest ones this season, in my opinion. Sad, so close to the season finale.

Well once they had done that then he gave up the location in the chance that they would be able to get all the rings and he wouldn't have anything to worry about. mostly, the episode was a buildup to the last 5 minutes. btw correct me if I am wrong but doesn't that room have a devils trap?

It's called O Death and is a re-recording of an old song, made for the CW Supernatural promos. There was a version of it on the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. The CW promo version kicks all sorts of ass though.
