The finale nail in the coffin for Chuck being God.

Kripke wrote the episode. Kripke created the show and in effect within the show Chuck is representational of Kripke. Therefore Chuck being God makes Kripke God because he is the show's creator.

If you have to go back and watch every episode with Chuck the first one even, when Chuck makes the comment of him inserting himself into the books as a "douchie" thing. In effect Kripke was inserting a character he likened to himself. I think Chuck even joked that he must be God at one point.

It's just a very weak way to tie things together. Why even INCLUDE the pendant in the show if it doesn't sense God? What was the point?

Zachariah acknowledged that he could kill Chuck at any time and bring him back to life - how could he kill God? If God had made himself 100% human... well, that just seems too risky.

Not to mention the fact that he was a prophet, and the angels said they had a list of every prophet that would ever exist. God just inserted himself into the list beforehand? That would imply he did know how everything would fall into place, since the beginning of time, and he created Lucifer and Michael just so they would die. How sadistic.

The only way I could buy Chuck being God is if he hasn't been God the entire time, and God just possessed him for this episode.

I just watched Season 4 episode 18 the first one with Chuck again. It's great.

Chuck is the tortured writer. A drinker and a loser and the perfect regular guy to be in order to truly experience what it is to be human. If God wanted a disguise to hide behind while he witnesses the way this story unfolds Chuck is the perfect choice.

Reminds me of Gabriel/Loki/Trickster, seems some beings like playing a role and sticking to it. Of course "God" would be the best at that sort of thing.

Either Chuck is God all along pretending or Chuck is God all along and for a time he does not truly know he is God. Either way Chuck is God and only Kripke knows for sure. It is possible Kripke decided to give Chuck the God honors after he had created the character. It's not like every script is set in stone. But I think it's pretty clearly implied that he is God.

As for Zachariah, well threats are one thing doing is another and God even in human form is still God. If the human form is killed does not mean the being God is killed. I imagine he could fool Zachariah as easily as Gabriel/Loki/Trickster fooled Dean the first time they met. Plus Zachariah was a douche bag who thought more of himself than he should have.

I think the big message they were getting at was that the Angels were all preprogramed by God. They could only do what God programed except Lucifer. Lucifer is more like the humans, he has freewill and he is the only Angel who recognizes this fact. He continually tries to enlighten the other Angels to this but they can not change their programming. So Lucifer is a bit of a brat who gave birth to the demons which are corrupted human souls.

Demons are all about self gratification and self preservation. Pure humans have the capacity for self sacrifice. They can be good or evil but it is up to them.

Now do Lucifer and Michael two brother trapped together learn from Sam and Dean. Do they see the parallels. Does Michael learn freewill and stop following his father's orders? Does Lucifer forgive his father and stops acting out like a brat? Lucifer and Michael saw Sam and Dean as vessels when they should have looked at the contents. In the end Sam and Dean had faith in each other and stood by each other. Well the two have all the time in the universe to figure things out. I think that was God's true plan to get Lucifer and Michael into the cell together. Then they have the chance to learn from one another.

It's also the "best disguise" because everyone is looking for God out doing nothing. Not as someone that's very involved in everything but with no "power" like a prophet.

Their codependency goes way beyond what's considered a healthy relationship, platonic or not, so it's no surprise.

Man I dunno about you guys but I liked that ending. Sure, there were a few potholes, but this season as a whole has been pretty solid and that was a good "ending". Also, weren't they originally going to end it after 5 seasons but recently got renewed for a 6th? That might explain the last thing you see

They were. Basically, the CW head honcho convinced Kripke about halfway through this season that the show could go for a 6th, so they had to change the finale.

It's pretty obvious to me that had it been the series finale, it would have ended with Sam and Dean saying yes to Michael and Lucifer, and going in the cage together, Lisa and Adam would probably not have been present in the story arc at all (maybe Adam just for a one-off - I thought the angels saying he was a suitable vessel for Michael was just a trap).

I disagree. The way they killed Castiel and Bobby was too... stupid for it to be final. You knew they would come back.
