Not a bad episode but it did not feel quite as epic as some of the other season premieres (I missed Wayward Son in the intro). Looking forward to how Mark Pellegrino does as Lucifer. I liked his character in Dexter even though he was a wife beating loser. Also, I am starting to get tired of all the angst between Dean and Sam. I mean one started the Apocalypse and the other finished it. I hope they put everything behind them soon and get back to kicking demon ass.

Them reconciling will probably be the key to them actually defeating Lucifer.

It's hard to believe it could be a fake Castiel. Did you see how worried Zach looked (after he asked Castiel how he came back) before he peaced out after Castiel killed his hench-angels with what looks like the same type (or same) sword Uriel used on angels last year? What has the juice to bring back an angel that was turned into "a balloon of chunky soup" that exploded (Chuck's words)? Hint: God. That isn't something Lucifer is capable of (the bringing Castiel back part). I think it's possible, but slim, that Lucifer put the boys on the plane, but more likely that it was God that both brought back Castiel and put the boys on the plane, and was "no longer in the building" last season, probably because he was playing Skee-ball with Michael in New Jersey somewhere. I think the major problem God has with what Zach is doing is he didn't sanction it, and they sped up the timeline for the Apocalypse, so he finally is acting to prevent it. Dean being Michael's "angel condom" is more worrisome.. I don't want a superpowered Dean to kill or cast out/lock up Lucifer again.. as fun as it would be to see Michael. I'd rather Dean figure something out as a human and do it, or Michael take possession but leave Dean in the driver's seat.. I don't know...

I agree with you and hope that it's a fake, head fake. I got the same impression from Zach's reaction as you did. I also really, really don't want them to have Dean super powered or taken control of for half the season. Seeing Michael would be cool but hopefully not at the expense of losing the awesome that is Dean.

The only reason I think it could be a head fake, is because it felt like it wasn't, like it was designed to make you think 'oh shit~ well look at that', i.e: you're so absorbed in the moment, because it looks so authentic, that you wouldn't think it was fake.... Which is what would make it such an awesome fake Imo it's 50/50!

Ok as far as fake/head fake, how would that drive the narrative forward? What would be the point? The only worthwhile thing I can think of is if that wasn't actually Castiel but God in the guise of Castiel. Now that would be crazy. I don't want God as an active character, and I don't think anything done by God would be on-screen but the teleport up to the plane and Castiel revival (and Chuck not knowing about it) seems to point to the Big Guy.

I don't know if I want to love or hate Eric Kripke for how this season of Supernatural is going so far. It's so amazing, yet so confusing and filled with surprises and we're only two episodes in. Felt more like an old episode to me, like season 2 type feel...

not really a timeout. It was more of a I'm keeping you from doing your work well kind of thing. Like if Lois left Clark so he could focus on saving the world, not looking out for her, kind of thing

Ya but Lois can't do shit to help Clark, Sam isn't a damsel and distress, he has some issues he needs to deal with it but he pulls half the weight in there duo, If he isn't gonna stick around and help Dean deal with the apocolypse then he's either going to do nothing which is unlikely, or go at it on his own which makes him more vulnerable and both of them less effective.
