Which is why it bothered me, I really don't want to see the next few episodes be where there jumping back in forth between the two of them or Sam is just absent from the show for awhile until he decides to pop back in. They have too much stuff to focus on this season (esp. if it ends up being there last) to spend time dragging that out.

    Spoiler: show
Well from next episodes preview, I think Lucifer is going to try use Sam's Demonic side to turn him against Dean.

And here's a hilarious clip from next week's episode:

episode guide says castiel and dean search for raphael, who is known as the arc angel of healing, I'd assume bobby is getting fixed up next episode.

I think it will be more like Raph may have a clue as to the location of God. I doubt he's going to heal Bobby just because traditionally he's been affiliated with healing. One reason I think this, is an interview Kripke gave about how Bobby ended up in a wheelchair and he said (paraphrase) "it's the apocalypse, we're going to show that the stakes are higher."

Bobby in a wheelchair, coming to grips with his new life is supposedly going to factor in this season as well. Don't hold out hope for a walking trucker hat... it's going to be a rolling trucker hat, maybe not permanently but at least for a while.

I wonder why they wouldn't have used a different arc angel then?

Raph could possibly require something from them before he heals Bobby, making it takes another few episodes before he gets healed.

It's not like there are a ton of archangels to use if they're going on the major canonical sources. For Christians, two archangels are mentioned/actually named in the Bible - Michael ("Who is like God?" or "One who is like God") and Gabriel ("Strong Man of God"). Raphael isn't named in the Bible, but named in the Book of Tobit, which is canonical for Catholics and Eastern Orthodox, and not for Protestants/Evangelicals.

Gabriel hasn't come up on the show, yet. There are other non-canonical named archangels, one of which is Uriel, but the Uriel presented on the show did not seem to be an archangel, even though he was a big fan of smitin' people.

Also, Bobby potentially getting healed is never an "A plot" for the show. At most it would be a "B plot" or "C plot." The main focus is stopping Lucifer, which finding God ties into. In that interview I talked about Kripke giving, he made it seem like Bobby being disabled was going to be permanent, with one episode later this season pretty Bobby-centric (but not Bobby-getting-healed-centric).

They could have pulled from the Quran and used Azrael? idk. At least they are staying true to the mythos of raphael (from what I can see in the trailer) by using a apothecary jar to find him.

No, because this season isn't going to end as Sam vs Dean. It also isn't the last season.

Uh, no and no. Cite your sources, please. Kripke has stated a plethora of time he will only make 5 seasons, anything beyond that he would not be a part of. Also, he's apparently very secretive about plot spoilers, so pray tell where you heard that the season wasn't going to end with Sam vs. Dean. The main actors have said that the series will probably end in a "bloodbath," because they couldn't imagine Sam & Dean living a peaceful life afterwards.

    he's open to the idea
    Exclusive: 'Supernatural' to 'end with a bang' in 2010 (but there's a catch) | Ausiello | EW.com
“I did set out [to] tell a five-season storyline,” the exec maintains. “Quite frankly, I never expected [the show] to make it to five years. But now that we’re in our fifth year, I have every intention of ending the story with a bang and not drawing it out or watering it down.”

Relax, Supe Nazis. Here’s that catch I promised you…“That having been said,” Kripke continues, “I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one.

Forgive me but I don't particularly know what you'll label a credible source, but I'll try my best. I'll address the Sam vs Dean first, though since you mention Kripke I'm assuming you've most likely already read this.

"MR: Can you talk a little bit about Sam and Dean? Between them, is it pretty rocky or do they just kind of move on and go back to hunting together? Do you have it mapped out?

EK: Yeah, we certainly have the main emotional sweep of the season mapped out. Sam's part for the season is primarily one of redemption. He has a lot of wrongs to set right. For Dean, it's a little bit about understanding what his role is, but having the strength of character to do the right thing.

I mean, Dean's story has really always been -- both boys' stories have been -- [about the same thing]. The core concern of the show is free will versus destiny. And when you're destined to do something, can you rail against it? From Sam's perspective, when he's destined to do something and then he has fulfilled that destiny, which was to end the world, how can you come back and be redeemed?

And so they both have their stories. But I always say that it's about them coming together, because the story is really not about one or the other; it's about the bond between them that's called brotherhood. It's about this connection of the two of them. The two of them being one unit is for us really what the story is about.

And people online, they get furious -- alternately furious and upset -- or they throw their arms up because they think we're focusing on one brother or the other, and some people are Sam fans, and some people are Dean fans. And in my mind, anyway, you know, they're both on completely equal footing because the story is about the two of them being intertwined. For me, the story is about, "Can the strength of family overcome destiny and fate, and can family save the world?"

If I had a worldview, and I don't know if I do, but if I did, it's one that's intensely humanistic. [That worldview] is that the only thing that matters is family and personal connection, and that's the only thing that gives life meaning. Religion and gods and beliefs -- for me, it all comes down to your brother. And your brother might be the brother in your family, or it might be the guy next to you in the foxhole, it's about human connections.

What you'll find as the mythology of the season unveils, it's this massive, Byzantine mythology of angels and demons and what they want and their destinies for the world. But it's basically about two red-blooded, human brothers giving them all the middle finger and saying, basically, "Screw you; it's our planet. If you want to have a war, pick another one."
The Watcher: 'It's the fun Apocalypse': Creator Eric Kripke talks 'Supernatural'

If Sam's out for redemption I don't see how he will be willing to succumb to Lucifer and give into being his vessel. Which is what's mostly required for a Sam(Lucifer) vs Dean(Michael) scenario to take place. Instead, I see them coming together and overcoming their so called determined fate.

Isn't it also said that God would end up a character this season? Anna is also supposed to come back this season, I just see more twists happening than them laying out Sam vs Dean as "it".

New Eric Kripke Interview Supernatural Hunters’ Addict

As far as a season 6 is concerned. Jensen and Jared are signed on for six years. And if you're reading Kripke's interviews then I'm sure you know that he's stated many times regarding another season,

"I'm looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn't mean there can't be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one."
You can find that quote anywhere.

Anyway, I could have elaborated more on my reply earlier and worded it better, so my apologies for that.
