FFXI skipping

Hi, I have just got a new computer and FFXI will skip every min or so, its kinda like when you lag and then everyone warps accross the screen. I had this problem on old computer and think I fixed it by getting a program that set my clock for me on computer, vague i know but this was about 5 years ago, anyone got any hints?
