He said that his ratings prove his point. And i think his point was something about hamsters with pancakes placed somewhere on their bodies.

Sorry, but the ratings thing is stupid. Howard Stern gets ratings as well. Ratings proves popularity, not content. You do not have to be smart to be popular, you do not have to be well informed to be popular, you do not have to have a particular talent to be popular (see: Hilton, Paris; Montag, Heidi; Pratt, Spencer; Lohan, Lindsey; etc.). Becks' ratings show that he's a particularly incendiary TV personality. He gets people who agree with his philosophies to watch, and he gets people who disagree with him to watch because both sides can't wait to see what kind of outlandish thing he'll say next.

Glen Beck is nothing more than an entertainer. So is Coulter, so is Limbaugh. They make their money by doing anything they can to get attention. Holding any of them up as a champion of your political ideology makes as much sense as doing the same with bozo the clown.

Again in simpler terms: Glen Beck's job...his GOAL each day is not to educate the people. It is to say the most outlandish shit he can so you'll talk about him and tune in again.

Beck's ratings (and it's a share, not actual viewership) come from the fact that his only competition at 5PM is rush hour traffic and the local news. I dare Fox to move him up an hour and watch his ass get destroyed by even Katie fucking Couric.

To be fair everybody knows Nielsen is a broken system that favors older white viewers who happen to be Beck's chief demographic lol. Isn't the median age of his/limbaugh/faux's viewers like 67? Them marketers sure must be stoked.

The argument isn't that the ratings are skewed or inaccurate or due to slotting. It's that they aren't important at all anyway. No on is arguing that Beck isn't "popular." He's a popular entertainer. But that is all. One certainly shouldn't argue that because he has high ratings that is somehow VALIDATION of what the content.

It's like Caligula, he was a captivating figure- did shocking things that people couldn't stop talking about. The attention certainly doesn't mean he was a great Emperor.

There should be an award for most random figure used in an example, and you should win it.

PolitiFact | "Tea party" photo shows huge crowd -- at different event

There's another big problem with the photograph: it doesn't include the National Museum of the American Indian, a building located at the corner of Fourth St. and Independence Ave. that opened on Sept. 14, 2004. (Looking at the photograph, the building should be in the upper right hand corner of the National Mall, next to the Air and Space Museum.) That means the picture was taken before the museum opened exactly five years ago. So clearly the photo doesn't show the "tea party" crowd from the Sept. 12 protest. Also worth noting are the cranes in front of the Natural History Museum (the second building from the lower left of the National Mall). According to Randall Kremer, the museum's Director of Public Affairs, "The last time cranes were in front was in the 1990s when the IMAX theater was being built."

That makes the picture at least a decade old. (We'll update this item if we find out when exactly it was taken.)
Edit: Oh the irony.. The picture they lifted was of the crowd at the Million Man March in 1995.
