    WoW players please read.

Being a veteran WoW player myself (PvP and PvE) I ask myself:

"what's the point in even playing WoW anymore?"

All WoW content is pretty much drained of all challenging aspect. It's nothing but a time sink.

My opinion as to why I won't go back to WoW is because WoW's content is so easy and has little to no challenge anymore. Regardless of if something is released and it does pose a challenge it will be nerf'd within a week due to all the nabs whining about not being able to pug it.

Aion has a chance for greatness whereas WoW's greatness has come and gone. I think it's time to move on. (for me) I hope NCsoft doesn't screw up what could become of Aion.

This isn't a thread to look down upon any WoW players who think it's still fun and awesome. I just wanna hear your input on why you would still play WoW over Aion. Also this is only for players who have played Aion.

everyone says "omg wow is such shit i quit it for aion and it's so much better"

then again, those same people turn around and bitch that you can't cover 90% of the screen with plugins, that there aren't mounts (what the fuck at this one, seriously), and that the grind is too hard

I never played wow so I can't speak from experience as to why you would want to play Aion over it, but I can offer you this one reason for playing Aion in general: NCWest does nothing but translate the updates the koreans make.

Well my input... may be a bit more fresh than some. I have only been playing WoW for about 2 months? If that? In that time so far I have played mostly Hunter which is now level 80. But then... saying that isn't the same as saying I had a BST 75 that i soloed... entirely... and it took a year. Right?

What I am getting at is... after playing FFXI for nearly 5 years, and having played WoW for 2 months... I am already a bit bored =( I really hate to say that and hope it changes, but I don't know that it will.

I was overwhelmed at first, after NEVER thinking I would play WoW at all after FFXI. But I took the Trial for a spin and really quite liked it so I jumped on board. Now, I am not much of a raider, and truth be told have only BARELY scratched the surface of some level 80 5 mans, some H TOC, etc. But ... the drive isn't there like it was in FFXI.

I like what i have played of the Beta so far for Aion, quite a bit. I just don't want to be bored after 2 months... we shall see eh? In the meantime, I really need to figure out what I plan on doing with WoW. Having 2 MMOs coming out of the wallet at once seems a bit excessive if i am only half into one of them... Then there is FFXIV in the future. Sheeeeesh.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

well for your answer since Im playing WoW over Aion:

    1. When I beta tested Aion I found there was more things to do in WoW for low lvls.

    2. There is nothing outside graphics (which are not important to me) that is really added to Aion that makes me jump and say "why doesn't WoW have this?" I am not saying it is a WoW clone, just has nothing unique to it that makes me want to play

    3. the character models is a cheesy way so they only have to really deal with two models (male and female)

    4. I am waiting for FFxiv to come and don't want to start something new unless it blows my mind, which Aion doesn't.

    5. gameshield makes it so I can't use my gamepad, yet on the flip side most of the korean mmos that I've played that have gameshield have rampant botters that they do nothing to stop. this includes lineage 2 made by the same company.

don't get me wrong, the game isn't even out yet, but those 5 points are the things i think are the major factors in me choosing wow over aion. they could change in time (like maybe ncsoft will allow gamepads), but as it stands wow is way more appealing to me.

I guess I'm more interested in why you want to continue to play WoW. What motivates you? What appeals to you? In me there is absolutely no motivation considering that any person can achieve everything.

Since FFXI was brought up I'll use it as an example.

D.ring is earned and requires tons of time to get. Having a D.ring fills a person with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that they are one of few on the server to have.

Whereas in WoW there's no symbolic items to get. Legendaries will be replaced next expansion by blues. It's just not fun. Rinse and repeat every expansion. Strives to be the first to do for what? Everyone else is only a few days behind you and it's not like you're better than them for doing it first.

As someone who has played WoW for some 4 years off and on... and is quitting for Aion very soon.

I've done pretty much every raid in the game from Molten Core in Vanilla WoW to clearing Heroic TotC a couple days ago. There is no more challenge left in the game. Everything is redone, and the game has gone to hell for me. All the good art designers and developers are off working on the next Blizzard MMO, and I'm tired of WoW revolving the game around casuals and arena.

Raid content is not challenging and does not interest me anymore.

The game is boring. Achievements are stupid, who cares about some little ticker that tells you how much time you've wasted doing something.

The game is too casual. Unlike Vanilla where you had to raid or work your ass off to get purples, in WoW you get epics just for hitting 80, and can get a full tier of gear just by doing heroics that I could probably do in all greens. Blizzard dotes over these casuals and makes the game simplistic and stupid because these idiots don't know how to play the game. I can't tell you how many people I've partied with with full epics and they can't break 1.5k dps when I'm doing 3k+ as a fucking tank. The community is stupid in WoW. Joe Shmoe who plays for 30 minutes a night thinks he should have the same level of raid quality gear that other people raid 8+ hours a week for, and if you don't agree with him, then you're an elitist asshole. PvEers hate PvPers because Blizzard balances the game around PvP, and PvPers think that all PvEers are idiots because PvE is easy, yet they don't know how to not stand in fire when you do Archavon with them.

The game has been out for 5 years and Blizzard still cannot balance classes cause they listen to the QQ too much.

I don't like having to party with these said idiots to get my raid gear. I don't like having to do heroics I was clearing 10 months ago in blues and greens for raid gear. I definitely don't like one shotting an entire raid in less than 40 minutes either.

I like Aion because it lets me make my character look exactly how I want her to look. In WoW there are set races and only 1-2 good looking faces per race so EVERYONE looks alike. I've played tons of hours in Aion and have yet to see two people who even look remotely similar. If you like crafting you can do that at a low level in Aion and make stuff that's actually useful unlike in WoW. The crafting is good unlike WoW, and leveling in Aion is actually fun for me.

PvP is great, PvE is great. When you play the game it actually makes it feel like you're playing your character, and not the same thing as everyone else.

does " i work two jobs, and i hope to have a baby in the next 3 years" help? when I was in college/just out of it ya earning things in ffxi was great, but my schedule just doesn't work that way anymore. i have more responsibilities than i did before, and wow allows me to get things done whereas around the time i quit ffxi I was under stress trying to fit in events.

Well, as someone who jumped into the WoW ship right after the Salvage bans, I too have felt the dryness of the game but I think that's more because of me being tired of MMOs in general rather than being bored with each individual game. Though I can say that I have touched every single aspect of endgame in FFXI (with the exception of AV and PW) and most the recent end game raids in WoW (1-light away from Rusted Proto and IC/Freya/Mimiron/1-Light from Ironbound, had only a few attempts on ToC H with Northrend Beasts). I think that's probably my main downfall in most MMOs is that I get a bit too absorbed in the end game that it just burns me out.

    Aion will probably continue my cycle though the whole PvPvE aspect with the Abyss and all looks pretty interesting enough that maybe that'll be the thing that keeps me in. I dunno though, I am getting pretty tired of having the same stuff over and over again (FFXI) and I am getting pretty tired of things changing constantly (WoW)... I dunno what I want any more. T_T;

Never played WoW because the artstyle doesen't appeal to me at all, FFXI was nice for 7 years till it just got old. Aion is just the new cool dude on the block for me and it seems like it caught alot of interest from all over, just really crossing my fingers it doesen't fail like WAR did because it's amazingly fun to play for now especially the PvP. As for botting, it's pretty much up in the air as to what happens there but that's nothing new in any MMO so far since we just learn to deal with it.

Have you killed 0 Yogg? If you haven't, shut the fuck up and find an easier game.

Edit: have you even killed HC Anub'arak...?

both, but then i haven't done everything there is to do in wow. as i stated in my first one i think wow is a more solid game than aion, and has things i like, but then you switched to saying why ffxi was better and that means i should want to play Aion?

you are confusing by switching from one topic to the next.

Friends of a friend went back to wow after some expansion got released? they're not going to play aion lol. I guess they were playing follow the RL chick.
Everyone's entitled to play the games they want, don't really have to explain themselves. Hell, I still play counterstrike 1.6, even though there's source, all those new flashy shooting games, etc.

Wait wait, you're in Stars-TW, Paragon or Premonition? Because if you aren't then you haven't killed heroic anub25, and need to stfu about difficulty in WoW.

Everyone will be doing Heroic Anub 25 in a month when all the casuals start crying and Blizzard nerfs the shit out of it, just like Ulduar.

wait so you asked us why we wanted to play WoW over Aion, but when we give an answer you get upset for us defending it?

How else were we supposed to do it?

there were only 1 or 2 responses that involved why the would play WoW over aion. the others were about how hard one fight in a raid out of 10-12 bosses is.

I was talking moreso to Corrections and Cookies. But it looks like Silverbreeze pwnt them for me because what he or she said is totally true.

I think he means that he wanted responses like mine and yours as to why we do or do not still play WoW, then it turned into a Flame War over boss kills, that's why the point of the thread is kinda null now.
