she was kind of cheesy yea. i think michael needs a woman though, that's like a central part of his character and the show - that he is hopelessly romantic, but self-destructive. i think in the british one, ricky gervais's character got hooked up at the end? like it was a symbolic 'end' to the show, cuz it sort of resolves the relationship issues w/ each person.

actually, in the british one, 'michael' confronts the 'packer' character, who is really just a toxic friend (someone who holds u down, hurts u and feeds off making fun of u, but being ur 'buddy' too). might not have gotten a ladyfriend... maybe that was 'jim'

so anyway, wasn't the best, but still liked it. i agree, kind of meh tho

I think the American version is better than the British version now. I didn't like it when it started out and was rehashing British storylines, but it really grew up and into it's own. I remember studying the Office in a course in college on film making because it looked so different, original, fresh, and now everything looks like it. It's gotten to the point that the documentary look has just become the new standard look.

According to Eonline.com's Kristin Dos Santos, Steve Carell has confirmed that he is, in fact, leaving The Office after next year's Season 7. "I just think it's time," Carell told E!. "I want to fulfill my contract. When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go."

There still a significant amount of time left until Carell's contract is officially nil, so one might still think that there was room for negotiation here. But Carell made it quite clear that he was not joking.

If Carell does leave the series, and doesn't somehow succumb to the temptations of "more money than god," will the show still go on without him? "It doesn't certainly mean the end of the show," Carell stated. "I think it's just a dynamic change to the show, which could be a good thing, actually. Add some new life and some new energy...I see it as a positive in general for the show."


Carell continued on a little about the all the attention that this announcement is receiving. "I didn't see it as a huge thing and I certainly didn't anticipate any sort of hubbub over it. I'm just not going to extend my contract, but I didn't see it as a huge deal," he said. "And the show is great, and the ensemble is so strong, and the writers are great, so it's just one part of that ensemble drifting off. They've incorporated so many new characters and so many new, great storylines that I have no doubt it'll continue as strong if not stronger than ever."

i remember that 70's show trying to do it and it was just completely awful.

This is one of the few shows on TV that has such a strong cast and supporting characters.

If Steve Carrell left, they could definitely manage to keep the show going.

When Steve Carrel does leave, I wonder who will take his place. Will they go with an existing cast member or get some big name comedian/movie star/etc. to take his place? I think it would be the latter.
