thanks elmer!!
when was this interview conducted? they still said 50% done =/
beginning to wonder if they're gonna be in time and release it by 2010.
Hell. Yes."Crafters will have other unique abilities, such as being able to add their own colors or patterns to the equipment they make."
Thanks, Elmer!
Oh god I hope you're right about the plastic stuff, Elmer lol.
Also guys, remember that being only 50% done is not a reason for SE to not release MMORPG stuff. Just look at FFXI patches.
If the Guildleves are the only way to progress in the game, I don't think I'm going to play after reading this:
"Players should be aware, however, that there is a limit to how many Guildleves a single player can personally initiate within a set period of time. If you hit this limit, you can still help others with their Guildleves."
I doubt they'd make it the only way to progress with the system set up like that. It'll probably be the best way though.
It just sounds like it's going to be extremely limiting when you first start the game or whenever they add new content. It's like the quests in FFXI that have the "wait until JP midnight" stuff. No one is a fan of that.
Also, the whole crafters hanging in town to repair items for people sounds like it's going to be Lower Jeuno circa 2004.
Actually IMO it reminds me of MMM more than anything. I don't think that system is that limiting.. especially if it is on a much larger scale (think exp parties in XI) and you can do more than one guildleve per day, I don't think you'll be left out with no guildleves to do at any time, except if you're very unsocial. I think they're trying to encourage grouping with this, more than anything.
All the information about Guildleves disappoints me, since I absolutely hate that type of stuff. I love FFXI because it didn't have that type of system like other MMO's. But I will still give the game a try since I want to love it.
MMORPG Basics 101:
If you allow players to plow through everything in one sitting, they'll complain for more and more content that the developers can't keep pushing out everyday and/or leave the game because there would be nothing left.
People didn't like the JP midnight wait? Tough, the JP had to wait a day, people in America/Europe could get around it by activating/gaining item/etc just prior to JP midnight and get around it at least once. Waits (or OMFGTIMESINKS!) are necessary for MMOs or you'll have your user base plow through shit at lightening speed.
Guildleve = focus but that doesn't mean it's the ONLY thing. If it was the only way to progress they'd say "the only way to grow is through guildleve".
Guildleave sounds to me like Assaults. There will be plenty to do, but its not the only part of the game.
Currently FFXIV, especially the Guildleave system, sounds like this:
Start a Quest, run from A to B or kill some Mobs, go back to your Town and get some "exp" (weapon skill points, w/e) and gil as reward.
I really hope the Guildleave don´t works like this, otherwise FFXIV is just another mmo clone like the other few hundert online games.
Seriously why should i get experience if i deliver a simple message from A to B..., ok a retard maybe get some exp and earn the new Rank "Idiot".
FFXIV sounds interesting so far, the only thing i'm worried about is the main focus thing called Guildleaves.
The article says there will be an "avatar transfer." What does that mean? Can I still have my Talka in FFXIV, but with modified looks? How much of my FFXI character moves over?
I've seen sites saying you can't transfer a thing, and I've seen sites saying you can even transfer all your ear. 0_o
