I have friends that I wouldn't want to leave on my server, not to mention shells that I feel I still an obligation to continue with. But hell, if certain people aren't around as XIV looms, maybe I will, even though I nothing to gain in terms of gear/gil.. At least it would show that you don't need to allocate every god damned slot to MP when /mage.

Not only would you be an ineffective DD but now you're an ineffective support healer too. I would think /DNC would be the better choice.
Jesus Christ. /whm loses berserk, 1 attack up trait, warcry and 10% DA(which is really just 5% as joyeuse will overwrite it on half of your hits anyway). Do you stop meleeing and WSing when berserk and warcry are down? No? Then shut the fuck up. There are times where /dnc is superior and times where /whm is superior, /dnc's major flaw is inability to -na people in an efficient manner(be it because they're in a different party or because an aoe debuff just landed and your recast is awful on samba compared to the -na versions). Everything depends on your other member's playstyle, jobs, and what you're doing.. there are certainly times where it's worth meleeing with /whm over meleeing with /war to gain another person who can do -nas.

Whatever man, dont just talk about it, be about it. I cant guarantee how long I'll be able to let that offer stand but it's on the table for now so I'll await your PM if you become interested at a later date.

I suppose maybe the quality of my LS has spoiled me with their damage but you only lose that? Just those several things? Those key attributes to your physical damage output? That's all? You sure now? So for the sake of a little bit of mp, you feel it's justified to take away things that are key to a COR being a successful melee/ranged DD? k, I'm gonna shut the fuck up now. That's the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard and I'm not going to dignify that any further with a response.

In case you were unaware, bards and corsairs have different rolls, that do stack.
    Duh.
May have heard of Wizard's roll? Sorry, but 1/tick ballad more (at best) doesn't really compare to it.
Most Blms always ask me for warlocks over wizards.

You also may have heard of Samurai roll or Fighter's Roll? Well, you see, those further enhance the melee that are getting marches from the bard.
You know how to read a wiki, thats nice, and if you have a brd and cor(In a non-merit setting since cor should never be /whm in merits) then the brd most likely will have /whm, so you can go /rdm or melee sub. Unless of course your main healers and Brds are incredible slackers, in which case you should replace those not make the cor gimp.
I'm not saying you should always sub white mage, I'm saying you're stupid and a little too self-centered if you can't tell where you should use it. Also, if you're ever trying to low-man something like Wyrm, there is a lot to be said about a solid MP build, IMO.
Every single time a group has asked me to /whm, /rdm would have been a better choice, every time.

You have berserk down a significant portion of the time on /war anyway. If you're going to say 5% DA, 10 attack, or fucking warcry are key to your damage.. you should really just go back to alla. I'm not advocating subbing WHM often, but there are situations where an extra person doing -nas will outweigh berserk and not all shells will have ideal setups for everything. Condemning the sub because you feel that everyone should be in ideal situations at all times is laughable. For what it's worth, my COR has been either /war or /nin(blinkable aoes) at everything it's been at for the last 6 months and I don't advocate /whm in my shell ever. Blow me.

Doesn't it make sense to be versatile on COR? I have about 600mp idle on cor/whm and have cured several events where mages dc or die because shit happens. Also sometimes you just want to be lazy!

Since we on the topic, we have started doing 3dd/cor/brd/whm or rdm partys to ein.
I have been making the CORs take /whm to help with nas etc, do people feel it would be better to let the cors fill a more dd kinda roll or keep them as support, please note this is for t1-3.
If your ein shell uses cor what do they sub?

    2 dd + cor/dd + brd + brd + rdm or whm = win

replace rdm or whm with a dnc if you can have another rdm or whm outside party focusing on hastes

/WHM had it's uses though I consider it more of a lowman thing. I usually prefer /RDM for MAB and some backup cures. Only time I found /WHM better was on Faf/Nidhogg to help counter Wings since I was in the BLM PT.

I think Thorny might have thought I was asking about ideal merit party, maybe, which i can understand. But yeah, more interested in peoples views on Einherjar.

I sub mage for Einherjar and help remove effects while keeping myself and my mage pt buffed and on top of MP. By doing this I can still help with sleeps and dispels when waves are coming in as opposed to standing there like a tard getting all paralyzed and blinded up and shit and being more of an MP sink than a help. It's nothing worse than a Cor in the middle of a fight whiffing constantly and having to endure 30 mins of "BLINDNA PLZ HALP", "PARALYNA PLOX!!1".

We have various "flavors" of Corsair in our LS and Ein group and I find its more beneficial to the run as a whole to provide as little downtime as possible when you're racing the clock. If you want to feel important and be l33t DD go level Ranger or Samurai or some shit. Having to disengage a mob so you can use Light shot once per Einherjar is doing your shell and your group a disservice. If your mages are wiping and you lose out on a feather because of lack of sleeps then who gives a shit if you out parsed a Warrior at the end of your 2 wave run?

in my einherjar shell we have some pts DD DD DD BRD COR/whm WHM - with the brd rotating. our CORs do alot more for us fulltiming support/curing with a proper mp set than swinging their joyeuse at dahaks or skeles, people need to accept that COR isn't always there to DD, but that will be hard for some people i'm sure

If you use <stnpc> you can light shot any mob while engaged.

Also not bringing mp gear when subbing whm is the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

I sub NIN on T1-3 and RNG on Odin. I'd love to be able to use a better DD SJ for T1-3, but I don't feel justified eating blinkable AoEs, or having no form of damage reduction for when I pull hate. Our two main DD parties are set up like this:

    WHM DDx4
    RDM COR DDx3

and we have 2 BRDs that rotate between them. If we have enough real DDs for a 3rd party, they (hopefully) get their own BRD who just stays there. Before the boss, we rotate all 2-3 BRDs through all 3 DD parties. The WHM (shellholder) and I (COR) are party leads to rotate the BRDs, because...we know we can do it.

I also usually 2box a RDM/WHM feather mule, so I can help cure and remove status effects with that (although he has been full for the last several runs; due to attendance issues we do Odin less often than would be ideal). Sorry if it seems like I'm providing a lot of extra info, but this is why I play COR in Einherjar like I do. If we had 3 parties full of relic DDs, or if I weren't 2boxing a mage, maybe I'd be more support-oriented. I think COR is pretty flexible and should adapt to what's right for your shell. Not everyone rotates BRDs for waves either, but after we tried it the first time, I knew I didn't want to go back.

I think I'm going to try /DNC next Odin just to have an extra erase in the RNG party, because it would be a big help (fuck remedy ointment for not removing bind, seriously).

This is valid, certainly. Extra -na can be good. We don't put CORs in the mage party, but I do advocate doing what works for you. However,

If you have to disengage to sleep mobs, WTF. Unlock, pan, Light Shot <stnpc>. It's easy and I do it all the time. My character has to be looking at something to hit it, not me. This should rarely be much more difficult than sleeping something while not engaged. Maybe it's easier because I'm using a controller; I don't know.

Edit: If there are mobs like skeletons where CORs suck at doing melee damage, sure, don't have them melee on those. That was easy. I also sit back and shoot for TP on imps, because I don't want to compromise my ability to buff/sleep. But a large part of the time, the mob is something neutral or not terribly threatening, and if it's weak to piercing, even better. You can't really perfectly anticipate Einherjar. I guess if we ended up with one that was slimes + dahaks + skeletons, I'd wish I subbed WHM (until a tard BLM pulled hate and MPK'd me with Fluid Spread). I don't recall that sort of thing happening often, though.

I find it interesting that people honestly believe that there is such a thing as too much MP for COR/WHM.

When I'm COR/WHM in Dynamis, I have no problem whatsoever using up all of my MP curing everyone in my alliance. A C3 that I cast is a Regen3 or C4 that a WHM doesn't have to stand up to cast. If you really, truly, honestly cannot find something to use your MP on, then one of two things is the case:

    1) you aren't trying
    2) your extra healing is completely unnecessary and you shouldn't be /mage at all

As for /WHM vs. /RDM: sorry, I just don't see the point of subbing RDM in most events. The question is, what kind of mobs would compel me NOT to melee?

    a) mobs with pervasive AoE debuffs
    b) mobs with heavy AoE damage

If it's a), -na will be relevant. If it's b), Curaga will be relevant. If it's neither, why would I sub mage at all?

You don't really, you can rotate brds and have 2 dd + cor/dd + brd + dnc + whm party x2 swapping brds so both get 2 min 2 march. My shell usually brings ~10-12 total though, kind of like having the extra brds for stuff like flayers.
