thinking of getting a PSP, need advice

ok, thanks for the tip. it sounds like a slim 2000 is the right way to go as long as it's the right motherboard/cfw. those shouldn't be too hard to find... I'd prefer a new one, but we'll see about that.

I guess I could look around the internet, on amazon, etc. because it sure as hell seems like the only new ones the gamestops around me have are the ones that can't be hacked. which is sad, because I wanted a dissidia PSP

The site only delivered to UK but I'm sure you'd be able to find plenty of similar shops available in the US. This sounds pretty risky, but if you can get one and all is well then it could be awesome. There's always risk involved, but for me, minimizing risk would be getting a psp with good ofw and just installing cfw myself.

From my sources, The dissidia bundle is shipped as a PSP-3000 w/ OFW 4.20 which means it is hackable, just not permanently. You would have to update it to 5.03 then use chickHEN to load this

: Functionality - Allows plugins, homebrew, and limited ISO/CSO gameplay (M33-6 like features in general)

The Custom Firmware Enabler (CFE) was developed to allow PSPs with previously unhackable motherboards to have CFW installed, but it can be installed on any other hackable PSP that meets the requirements. It is a partial CFW, which means that it only resides in RAM and is erased whenever your PSP is rebooted. It basically has all the functionality of a full M33 CFW except it is not permanent. This CFW it best suited for previously unhackable PSP owners, or anyone who is afraid to tamper with his/her precious flash0. Various guides and tutorials are available to help with this process.

As far as complete hack ability it is a bit of hit and miss. You may not be able to play X game from a CSO at time Y, but there are generally fixes for these games within a few weeks. Just dont turn off your PSP if you get this one...

Google PSPTube, it supports most video websites you can think of: youtube, metacafe, google, and some other's I haven't even heard of.

Find a video converter, and convert them to a format that psp can play? I know you can find them on google.

This is the first one I found, I believe I've used this before and it has a lot of ads but you can just ignore them and it gets the job done. (also for free).

As far as the comment about video out not being so great, I use it often when I remote connect to my ps3, which connects to my media server. Access to video on any hdtv that has a wireless connection from my psp is really nice.

I downloaded that PSP9 thing and had it fully converted or whatever, but then I checked my PSP and still shows nothing under videos, but I lost memory.

You put it in the video directory? As far as I know that should work. I've always had a custom firmware on my psp, so I'm not 100%. I'd try googling or just see if anyone else has a solution.

Every guide says something different about where to put it. Some day make an MP_ROOT folder on the main layer and then a subfolder with some odd name and need to put videos in there. Tried the video folder itself, but every guide says that doesnt work for whatever stupid reason.

Trying to make use out of this thing but it's just way more complicated than it should be. :<

When I did it (long time ago), I made a folder called MP_ROOT, in there I have two folders called 100MNV01 and 101ANV01. I'm pretty sure I put the mp4s in the 100MNV01 and they showed up in the video menu.

Doesn't that program automatically put it in the correct place on your psp? I thought it did.... I don't actually remember having to manually put them there. However I used a much much much older version of this program. They also have on for ipods.... downsize/crops the video to make it more visible on the ipod.

This will depend also on your firmware version... it got move around alot.

Try putting it in ISO > VIDEO folder. GL.

No, not all of them, some of them are completely unhackable or just partially unhackable. That's of course, with the right firmware. With the latest firmware they're all unhackable (for now, least as far as I know).

Any PSP that has OFW 5.03 or lower is can be hacked or partially hacked.

Any PSP that has OFW 5.03+ can be hacked w/ Pandora if it can be hacked w/ Pandora. 1000's and select 2000's

Any PSP 2000/3000 w/ no Pandora that has OFW 5.03+ is unhackable at the moment.

Yeah your problem was that your firmware is 5.51.. and is one of those anti pandora PSP's

Huh? everything I have looked at says those are hackable w/ Pandora O.o
