You may have installed the more recent OFW than the one it came with, which pretty much gives you the middle finger for any hacking attempts.

Yeah, I've got 5.51 on it right now. Once that FW version gets cracked though I'll be able to downgrade mine? I thought I was told I wasn't going to be able to downgrade it because it was a newer motherboard.

You can downgrade from 5.55 OFW with a pandora battery if you have anything lower than a TA-88V3.

You can use a Pandora battery for your PSP. it dose not matter what OFW you have. just make a MMS and your PSP will think it is updating when it is not...

Auspice did tried pandora on this SLIM and it didnt load... why we concluded he is one of those unlucky bastards... he could try again though.. you never know coulda been a power cycle fluke! :D

Every PSP (other than lolGo) under 5.03 is hackable. If your PSP is over 5.03, refer to the chart on the first page.

For people wanting to know which to get, it depends on what you want to do. If you want a 'better' PSP, and don't have interest in anything other than PSP games, I'd go with a 3000. Lower end 2000s work really well, but good luck finding one.

Worth noting: All used game stores update the OFW on PSPs. Buy new if you want under 5.03. Better to buy new anyways.

If anybody needs help, I'll lend a hand through PMs.

Last I checked, 6.00 GEN is being worked on. Recent games are requiring 5.55 FW, which complicates things. Two examples are Soul Calibur (This has been hacked to go under though), and Disgaea 2. I can't tell you too much about that though, as I'm extremely paranoid with my PSP, and I'm still running ChickHEN r2 and CFWE3.5.

The fix for soul caliber was this or my understanding of it: There is a .txt file hidden deep within your PSP. it has what version of the firmware you are running. M33 never touched it because they thought it would mess up w/ saying this PSP is legit. Soul Caliber checked this file. People found out that if you rewrite this file to say you have 5.51 OFW it works w/ no problem.

I had heard that this only worked for PSN games. It is possible that SC was an exception though.

Wait, what?

Back OTish, I just updated my GoW PSP to 5.55 so I could play Persona. I think I've pretty much given up on homebrew at this point since I can't downgrade my system(and sounds like 5.55 beats that dead horse a bit more). :/

When you buy a new PSP3000 from a store, it ships with below 5.03 Official Firmware (OFW), making it hackable. Special packages are different, as they are updated.

However, if you buy a used PSP3000 from GameCrazy, they update all of these to the most recent OFW (6.00, I believe).

At this moment, the only exploit that works well is the 5.03 .TIF one, meaning if you have a 3000 (or 88v3), you are unable to homebrew.
