Disappointed they decided to jump without telling anyone though, so I question their commitment/loyalty a little now. You've got 2 good members as far as Beny and Viva go though.

Just to clarify Viva didnt walk away empty handed if i recall she got 5 or 6 items just didnt obtain haidate and as for AHands in the 8 months you were in LS think we got ahands once (i forget if you were there when they dropped) so yes it was unfortunate she didnt receive those 2 items but wasnt 8 months wasted as somebody had suggested
Second point yes we held a LS meeting (which Viva called for) in which it ended with a planned change to the lotting system which at the time Viva seemed happy with, that was the last time i ever spoke to her she would of been in top 3 of people due a haidate next byakko day
Thirdly yes Empathy is a sky+sea linkshell but as you know we are a relatively new ls in the scheme of things and sea was not our strong point, i understand why you would wish to join a more established linkshell and even server jump to join one however not telling anybody (yes i mean me mostly) i do find a little cold
Mostly disappointed with Benylin that he could leave without telling his main friends from fantasme days i find shocking, especially as he was all smiles on Monday night in Sea with us
As for the attack on Zaria i find that unjust and to use that reference about her boyfriends heart attack come on epoc your better than that

Yes Alex you are completely right, to be honest I've never posted on these forums until I was alerted by a friend that someone was telling complete lies on a public forum regarding us. I'm not so sure whether these cross server threads are really a good idea, maybe for known thieves that run away with linkshell bank funds and things like that but in all seriousness this thread just is not on and if this was outside the internet, probably crossing the boundaries of being legal. Empathy was a good shell, it's leader Lakey was a fun and friendly guy, a little too laid back in my opinion when it come to stopping people from taking advantage but aside of that a genuinely decent guy.

A member joins Empathy on the understanding it's not exclusive, and it's lotting system rules, however after several months when that member finds out that the linkshell isn’t able to take areas such as Sea seriously due to a large portion of it's members only turning up for bits they need, i.e. not farming, or just being present for the one god they want a drop from you can quite clearly understand that this shell has problems in the management of points.

This led to several members (myself, epoc, viva, beny, alex, and zaria being some of them); having very high points due to the fact we were loyal to empathy and supported all their events even if we didn’t need items from the areas. Based on the activities the linkshell advertised when we joined we were unable to spend these points on items that we would of liked even a chance at, due to attendance issues and the issue mentioned above. This issue was raised several times and the idea of being able to bid points rather than have set points for each item was put on trial... once. This was how Benylin fairly got his Byakko Pants, he had to overpay for them but was rewarded for his loyal attendance thus granting him points to outbid everyone and at the same time reducing his points to a very low status giving newer people in the shell the chance to move up the list, a very simple system used by a large number of end game linkshells perfectly well.

This one trial was put onto the forums for member discussion two weeks before it was tried. 95% of the Empathy members couldn’t be bothered to read the forums aside of looking up their points. When the new lotting system went ahead on trial after two weeks of notice via the forums, all the people who couldn’t be bothered to use the forums started to gripe about it right at the start of a Byakko pop, when they had, had 14 days to beat this out on the forums. The leader wasn’t prepared for the new system either and still was using his set macros from the old system. This resulted in the Byakko pop being held up for at least an hour. The new system of rewarding members for attendance and loyalty was quickly shot down by shell leaders after just one attempt due to 'it takes too long'. There was no thought that it took too long because everyone who'd had a chance for two weeks to make their points heard decided to cause a debate at the pop sight being the issue. Alongside the leaders deciding it took too long, the people who only wished to turn up for the one god they wanted an item for and then let everyone else do the work to pop it didn’t agree with the loyal members being able to out lot them as it was just fine and dandy for these type of people who got items for doing nothing, and this all resulted in the new system being shot down in flames after just 1 attempt that lasted for 1 god pop not even a full evening. As you can quite clearly see this isn’t an ideal setup.

The idea of a points based linkshell is that a member is rewarded by getting their items they need in return for attending shell events and supporting all the linkshell members, in Empathy this wasn’t the case as people could turn up just for Byakko pops, and accumulate enough points just for that attendance to quickly lot against people who turned up to all events to support everyone as items had set points.

The linkshell also was sadly stolen from by one of the original leaders; I'd like to add that this thief is not Zaria, Lakey, or Alexios. This member claimed his account was stolen, the person who stole it moved them to another server. Square Enix did a roll back on this particular account which puts it into the current state, all items etc as it was at the time of theft. This roll back procedure is a precise digital image of the day you lost your account and this was confirmed by Playonline Customer Services their selves. I'm not going to mention this persons name although he has a right to be on this thread rather than any of the people who are as I don't support stupid witch hunts over a game in all honesty and think giving people the chance to produce threads such as this based on their own views, with no evidence. In order to attack innocents is not right. After the person concerned got their account back they conveniently had linkshell property missing and despite Playonline Customer Services confirming that 'NO' items would be missing this person was allowed back into the shell not only as a member but as a leader once again. There was a lot of mistrust and bad feelings over this, quite understandably so after we had to complain on two limbus runs that he wasn’t declaring all ancient coins drops. Another incident was the linkshell spent several hours in alliance getting the UFO organ drops for gorgets, this linkshell leader was allowed to come into the alliance during the last 30 minutes or so and lotted the final UFO organ which several others had just spent hours trying for and he won it.

We all know this is a game and meant to be fun and I’m sure lots of people would like to type on this thread get over it, it’s just digital items. However spending your own, very real time, to get used and not recognised by a system is not right either. This resulted in this person removing his pearl sack and leaving the linkshell, but again not empty handed. With pop sets we'd worked for yet again, why on earth he was trusted with them is beyond any of us. Later on screenshots of his character taking part in god pops with a mercenary linkshell came to light thus proving his guilt further. Two severe knocks in the face for Empathy members.

A linkshell meeting was eventually called and a slightly better system was considered but one that still really didn’t cover loyal people who supported all the linkshell members from being used by people who just turned up for what they wanted. May I add at this point the people who just turned up for what they wanted didn’t have a valid excuse of RL, or work, or school, they were indeed online, just couldn’t be bothered to turn up to support 'ALL' members, or frequented other shells happily getting everything they wanted there too. The linkshell leader then decided to take a two week break for the linkshell for valid reasons but not ideal in the current climate.

Myself and Epoc supported Empathy 100% and we have more than a right to defend that on this ridiculous witch hunt. We did indeed leave the linkshell with high points still but didn’t make a drama of it, we did get a couple of items and so did a hell of a lot of people get a whole lot more for doing nothing. We were unhappy with how the shell was going for a long time but stuck it out over loyalty and friendships, and in the hope that the leaders would look into the issues. We didn't steal, we helped everyone we could, we left with high points not burnt them all before we left as incorrectly stated, we left without causing issues even after seeing the horrible things said about us behind our backs during the last meeting, we left knowing that we'd supported our linkshell to the best of our ability, and confirmed by many in this thread we left without a word, so no poaching of any kind went on whatsoever, MX if you're going to lie about something make sure it's consistent in all your posts dear. We pay for our monthly accounts and taking everything aside that gives us the whole rights to choose where we play ffxi. I don't really care to see this issue bought up constantly, we moved to be rid of all the above. Benylin and Viva are very good friends, we have always supported each other in every way we can, the fact that they moved is friendship, they shouldn’t be accused of negative things because of friendship, that is downright disgusting because they both also had no intentions of moving as stated above and also left with points.

All 4 of us miss some people on Valefor, of course we do. Now as Alex said can we put this to rest and wish each other all the best for the future instead of continuing this stupidity, and MysteryX person if I were you I’d get a new account because you have severely embarrassed yourself and no-one is going to listen to you after quite clearly seeing you contradict your own words in blatent lies. We could of said goodbye had the linkshell not been closed down for two weeks, in fact the few times we signed in we were the only members there and this has been said by a few of late. Also we were told by a sackholder that Lakey wanted to disband the shell and in all honestly I dont blame him which furthers the reason to leave. And as Viva said our logins were disabled on the forums to even leave a goodbye message when the linkshell opened again. Lakey in defence of Epoc, it was not you on the end of the slander in that party made for sackholders at the meeting and I'm sorry hun but evidence is evidence, we know what was being said and I feel that Epoc does indeed have a complete right to retaliate, and in return I'd like to say come on Lakey you're better than this I don't see any words against the total lies made from Mystery X regarding people who supported you and your shell above everything. Aside of that I wish everyone well, thank you.

Huge post is huge, but I would like to say: for every leader who complains a system like this is "too much work", who would rather just keep a system open for abuse and bad feelings - and tbh, reading what I've read here, all I can say is "wtf?" - then it's a very short-term view (which I think this thread helps prove). Bring in bids, and you remove so much potential drama that it's amazing. My shell used to have lots based on attendance in the past two weeks, and it caused sooooo many head-aches and bad feelings. We brought in bids, and we've had no such problems. Incidentally, it also sped up our item distribution and pop times, contrary to what was expected.

Regarding the server-hoppers, my shell and Empathy do Limbus at similar times, so we'd often stand around next to one another in Port Jeuno. While I never did events with any of the people in question, their gear always seemed pretty good and I never heard any bad things about them. Take that for what you will.

Good luck to all involved. It's no lie that there's some Empathy members I don't like and who don't like me, but I really hope the shell pulls through, 'cos if nothing else, Lakey is an ace guy and liked by everyone I know. All shells go through tough times, it's just natural.

edit - I can't be alone in wondering who this MysteryX person is, can I? Seems to pop up in almost every Valefor thread on these parts.
