Platinum Games is Clover resurrected. Clover was a Capcom development group, with no basis in Sega. They were responsible for Viewtiful Joe, Godhand, and Okami. Godhand being most related to the topic. Platnium Games doesn't even belong to Sega(they didn't want to make the same mistake twice, Capcom fucked 'em in the ass.) Sega only has a "4-game deal" with them. (You will find this distance between Sega and developers common if you actually looked)

Kamiya, Inaba, and Mikami are all world-class developers within the action genre. From Resident Evil to Devil May Cry to Steel Battalion to Killer 7. Considering that game footage and tutorials backs up this name it should be more than enough to tell you this shit is the real deal. (Kamiya is the director for this one, and he might just be the most solid of the three)

Anyway, Platinum Games DID produce the flashy, but shitty MadWorld. It's downfall was that it was not under the direction of any of the three names mentioned above. (Of course the videogame media loved it anyway lol)

you mentioned a lot of names I know and I do actually understand bits and pieces of the business so thanks for assuming I don't

but with the names you dropped I understand your hype about this game so like I said before--post something when it comes out if it's amazing or not.

footage can be very, very fucking misleading when giving the overall feel of the game. I got a very heavy devil may cry feel from watching the trailer, so...
