I came across this and i highly recommend everybody do this so that you can view all the rift locations, entrance and exit of both elyos and asmo on your map!

Step 2. In your game open your memopad from menu>community>memo and paste ( ctrl+v ) and you should see blue letters listing locations, level ranges and amount of entries per rift on your in game map. just close it to save the memo and just refer back to it next time your looking for a rift!!

Oh and /anon prevents random gold farmer whispers and will also stop people from viewing your gear.

No kidding. I've been trying to find an Ankle Snare stigma on AH just so I could maybe try to kill people who attempt to run away if it seems like I may be at the advantage, but so far no dice. With the hardcore already 40+, them coming back to grief lower folks (often in packs) is also happening. Would really like more AP, but for now I've had to grind it out in more region friendly areas since getting killed every 5 minutes after waiting 5 minutes just to get back to a good camp gets old. Plus I feel like the Legion I'm in is full of retards. -.-

Same here, there seems to be A LOT of immaturity and e-peen measuring, enough to make one sick. I have done some thinking about it and i believe there is a large percentage of people that play MMO's that aren't socially acceptable (weeaboo's). the way they act, the things they say have driven people away from them in RL so they turn to MMO's where they can get away with it. its sad and you can usually point it out pretty easily.

Just shit like people running off in random directions, not positioning correctly in the event of aggro risk, a lack of patience for things like repops or letting people catch up on a quick quest chain, not having mana potions if you're a mage, or the ever charming "let's forget what we were doing to chase an asmo across the map!" compulsory actions.

I would like to include typing skills in that list, but that's not exactly an MMO-exclusive issue. Though, we do have one dude who spams the fuck out of ellipses for no real reason.

I know when I jumped from FFXI to this, I wasn't exactly in a rush to replace one set of scheduled events for another, or even the hyper-anal structure I've seen of some endgame shells. Even now, I've seen silly things like demanding apps, ventrilo, or just plain blocking off certain classes from the self-proclaimed "top end" groups. I guess I've always been a middle-ground between the casual and hardcore in terms of personality, but with the web community in its infancy outside of the game, I guess, I dunno if I'll eventually be doing a bunch of legion hopping in search of that "perfect fit" or what.

Man, I've felt the same way so far with groups that I've encountered. I am don't stress though. Like you said, the game is in it's infancy and it's gonna take time for many to mature and for those who don't know how to play to get weeded out.

not so random considering that's pretty much the topic of choice in the legion i am in atm. i totally agree with you about the intelligence of a lot of players and how it affects other people, but don't you think those actions in game might be a relation to the type of person they are? or maybe they just do those things because its just a game and they can hide behind a computer screen, but when people make shitty decisions in-game, then your fucking around with other peoples time and that shit just doesn't fly.

This happened to a PT of mine in blackclaw, but we were the ones that had the follower. This was before the rmt chat spam too. I tried to talk to him in say, but he didnt see it or ignored it. It was kinda annoying actually. Then I said something more rude in chat and he seemed to get it.

Well, let me put it this way... I like anime and manga, I like discussing it now and then, but I don't think everyone Japanese is the bestest evar and am probably one of the few people that haunts the respective threads that doesn't believe JP voicework is always superior without question.

None of this has to do with my ability to play Aion, my social status (and I'll be the first to tell you it sucks, but location is what bones me), or even really how others behave. Replace anime/mange with American comics, or Star Wars, or Star Trek, or stamp collecting, and you'll probably find a social dreg here and there that's never touched a boobie and has 'won' their place in mommy's basement. Saying they're neurotic about particular hobbies may be a more accurate sentiment, but really, the implication I might be lesser because I like shit like Bleach or Naruto kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

Anyway, I try to break down people that do weird things into two camps: Those willing to learn and those who aren't. The reasons the latter category don't will vary. Maybe they're 12. Maybe they get their rocks off seeing just how much they can fuck up a party before they're kicked. I dunno. I can't pretend to know every reason. The former category of people are those I take particular interest in, as I'm also learning about the game as I go. Unfortunately, the learned camp has a couple variations of their own: those willing to share their knowledge and those who won't. For example, I've yet come anywhere near Pooky's claimed 100k/hr as I sit now at 35. It's not like I don't understand the concept behind the method, but putting it to practice has gotten me around half that number at best. That's another topic, though.

My intentions were not to classify you as a weeaboo, but if you were to read the conversations in the legion chat i am in, or listen to the vent chat, even a fan of anime/manga such as yourself might think theres something wrong with these kids...or maybe it's just because i am not a fan of either and it comes off as extremely annoying. so might just be me...


for the people not willing to learn the game, that has got to be the biggest pet-peeve for me, i just have ZERO TOLERANCE for stupid shit and i cant seem to escape that no matter what MMO i play though. for example: several newer players are having trouble with the starting zone quests, you know the ones my dog can do, and refuse to figure shit out themselves and generally just dont have a clue. im all for helping people but some people just cant be helped. i guess though once you play FFXI for 5+ years, it sets the bar pretty high for patience and figuring shit out for yourself.

Right click on their name and select block. There aren't that many spammers at a time and although they do make new characters to get around people blocking them, you should be able to use it for a while.

They've actually started sending mails. So fucking obnoxious.

SM build without Weaken Spirit? Blasphemy.

Command Substitution is on a 10 minute CD and you need to be within 10 meters of your pet for it to transfer the damage. Weaken Spirit is a 1k+ nuke (on players, 2k+ on mobs) every 12 seconds.
