Being able to level 1-80 in less than 2 weeks in WoW spoiled a lot of people for other MMOs.

I dont think it spoiled it, it's just too many western MMOs the content is all at endgame and there is nothing in between except a few instances, and it's that attitude we're seeing.

It did for me for like a week of playing Aion, then i remembered, hey this isn't nearly half as bad as waiting all day for an EXP party that you might not even get if you are a non brd class.

How awesome is ranger beyond 19? i've just dinged 19 tonight before heading off to sleep, 16-19 was just pure awesome being able to actually play like a ranger instead of a half assed assassin.

Ranger only gets better as it levels, 10-19 is the worst it gets really.

I am sorry... but while I disagree with a lot of the Curse guy's issues with the game. Mostly having to do with the leveling curve, he does have some points. I think he is clueless about how the developers want the game to be. Grinding is not a bad thing. Rare itemization is also not a bad thing. He chose to target the things that the "WoW Tourist" population is bitching and complaining about in the game. I give him no fault for knowing his audience and going after it.

There are HUGE issues right now in the game. It is sad that he would choose to use his elevated soap box to QQ about what are in essence the least of the worries (Although the siege/crash issues need to be fixed asap).

The more pressing issues are in the aspect of the actual gameplay and interaction between classes, monster targeting and threat mechanics and overall statistical itemization (ie Spiritmasters do not scale as well, Manastones = Physical Crit or HP or go home for most classes.) The biggest issue though is none of these. It is PvP and Siege participation credit. (Die randomly and get zero credit because you were dead when the Guardian died? Heal your ass off but only effective healing is credited? These are the biggest issues in regards to the fun of sieges.) The core of the game is solid, the grind and drop rate are choices an Asian game have always followed (although even Tiamat gave me a fire crystal and not absolutely nothing on every kill.) Complaining about core gameplay values because you want your free loot and easy leveling is inane. Constructively pointing out flaws in game design is what was needed.

My ranger is 12 and I just want to get it to 19ish so i can actually feel what its like to play ;

Just grind it out as fast as possible and get it over with. Drugs/alcohol help.

Also practice jumpshotting.

Explain, i think i might have done it a few times by accident, is it mainly to get the damage boost on your shot or make it not have to play out the animation or something? i dont really want to go look at the bleeding eye sore that is AS for this.

actually, the ranger forum on AS has some pretty decent guides. this one should help you: Kiting guide for rangers - AionSource.com. at least it did it for me, when i had no clue what all that jump shot talk was about.

Jump while running forward > Release all movement buttons ( cant autorun ) > Hit your skill button > Wait for animation to start playing> Continue moving. ( or jump again also for another jumpshot ).

Basically just lets you keep a lot more distance between you and the target.

Net's QQing is a bit excessive, but he does have some good points. There's some glitchyness with Cleric healing and targeting (try swapping targets and immediately hitting heal, uh-oh...).

Additionally, the DPS classes DO solo faster than groups get xp. This causes major problems. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to get a MM or Lepharist group going at 37+ only to find that I can only get Tanks, Heals, and Utility classes. The Sorcs are always out grinding in the middle of nowhere, and you can't blame them... it's just faster that way.

There are a few other issues too... Alquimia is a retarded instance. It's boring and has no loot, but the 42 skill books drop there, and do so incredibly rarely. You can run 10+ times and get literally nothing to show for it. At least toss some reasonable greens on those bosses! (Although sources indicate the book drop rate is tripling in the same patch that boosts quest XP).

I can jumpshot like a boss, i haven't been hit since lv10 :D

But yeah, thing is the grind is gayyyyyyy, i dont mind when i hit like 17 or so and can just sit in a krall group, but before then when you have to do dukaki/pollution, yadda yadda. yawn.

Call it grind when your exps start hitting in the "millions". But you're only 17, you could do 20 in a day.

I think he means having to do the slaughtering without having any ranger skills what so ever being a grind, it is crap having to level like an assassin but slightly slower, im getting this jump shot stuff down now, only thing that bugs me a little is occasionally i get stuck in the standing animation for a second or two. that being said, its awesome being able to randomly crit 1500 at lv19.

This ^ I didn't mean the exp grind, I meant the mission grind. Done it like 8 times lol.

Only 1500?! 1700 is for the pros.
