Scholar Halloween costume

Ok, I'm gonna be a Scholar for Halloween, since it's my favoritest job ever! I think I can make the whole outfit except the gown.
Has anyone got some ideas about making a Scholar's gown?

I'm still not sure how to go about sewing it. Hmm... I'm assuming there's sewing patterns for coats somewhere on the interwebs.

Quick update. I figure cosplayers might be mildly interested, maybe.

The costume is 75% complete. I'm missing the details, really.

I still need buttons, borders, the hat, the gloves, a scarf, etc. but it's coming together ok, I think.
