just finished it, had to DL after the fact. Was pretty good.

So it appears all Jor-El did was switch the gene for superpowers activation from yellow to red?
Hmm interesting that Jor-El would reverse which sun gave them powers like that, seems like a mighty big gamble to take. If they had been revived on Krypton then they would have had super powers (Krypton has a red sun right?).
I'd like to know how Zod discovered that it was changed in his DNA so that a red sun was needed instead of the yellow.
Me and a friend were wondering the same thing. That however doesn't match up, since Zod seemingly lost his powers and was hurled and knocked out by Clark after he stabbed Clark with the kryptonite knife.
If they do retain it, I expected at least a punch or two before the fight ended. There's gotta be a explanation about her specifically.. either that, or it's a big plot hole. Lol.
Ps - Superman can just fly to the opposite side of the planet where the sun is. >.> If he needs a recharge.
Okay. The episode "Pandora" was made of fucking win. That's the best episode of Smallville I have ever seen.
I thought about the episode and watched it a second time and this is what I got from it:
Basically first with the colored rocks (Kryptonite). Apparently, the rocks do not have any affect on Kryptonians under a red sun. They do absolutely nothing on Krypton. However, when the rocks are exposed to yellow sunlight, the rocks are changed. The Orb that they were working on was so that their species could repopulate another planet (earth) and since it has a yellow sun they would have powers and abilities. Jor-El did not approve of this, and so knowing what Blue Kryptonite did under the yellow sun, he infused the orb with it so that the DNA of the clones would not have any powers. So, when the Orb was activated and the clones were exposed to yellow sunlight, the Blue K in their DNA was activated.
Now, looking at Kryptonians, basically their DNA and cellular structure allows them to absorb solar energy at extremely high levels when exposed to yellow star. This absorption gives them their super powers. Under a red star, the solar energy isn't absorbed as quickly due to its low level intensity (In reality, Red Dwarfs only have 10% of a yellow stars luminosity), so they don't have superhuman abilities.
In the comics, the color of the star basically determined a Kryptonians powers. Young stars such as White and Blue stars gave Kryptonians massive strength boosts about 100x more than under a yellow sun. I believe there was a time where Superman traveled to a planet with a White Sun and he could not control his powers because he absorbed the solar energy so quickly and he had to leave. The yellow sun is somewhere in the middle, and Red Stars so not give any powers to Kryptonians.
The theory is that Blue K basically changes the absorption rates under different suns to where Red gives enhances solar absorption and Yellow does not. Now this would mean that on Krypton, anyone with Blue-K would be running around with super human abilities, however, as stated earlier, the crystal would have to be first charged by a yellow sun in order to activate.
I believe that only Jor-El knew of the crystals powers when charged under a yellow sun. I think it was also hinted that a select few knew that crystals changed under a yellow sun, but did not know what their effects would be. Only Jor-El had this knowledge.
Zod did not know why they didn't have powers, and they kept seeing the Blur's symbol thinking that it was Jor-El and that he had powers. They figured he had powers and they didn't and they wanted their powers back so in order to even the playing field, they wanted to create the solar towers in order to make a red sun and render his power useless in order to get the answers out of him.
What Zod did was use the Solar Collectors to collect yellow sunlight, and use extra power from the power grid to boost that energy and then beam it up to Luthorcorp satellites which them beamed it back down to Earth. The enhanced solar power being beamed back to Earth created a blanket in the atmosphere that caused an apparent red shift of the Earths Sunlight causing Clark to lose his powers (not able to absorb solar energy fast enough) and giving others abilities.
Now one of the biggest issues people have with this whole thing is Alia. When the towers were taken offline and the yellow sun came back, Alia had powers still and she was able to superspeed towards Lois and go back with her. Not only that but she still had powers under a yellow sun. Most believe that she had residual powers left because Kryptonians are like capacitors and have that energy stored (How Clark has powers even at night and when there is no sunlight). It would also mean that Clark and Zod were on equal ground when Zod Stabbed him but that also means Zod would have exposed himself to the Kryptonite so that is questionable. Others believe that Alia was working for Jor-El or possibly Braniac and has abilities under both yellow and red suns.
Her power retention probably has something to do with her blue eyes, but that's probably kinda obvious. A return of brainiac would be cool '-'

Smallville has a habit of doing this. They split the season into two, usually 9-10 episodes at the beginning and then they have a mid season finale (Like Pandora) and go on break for about 2 months. During the break, they promo the 2nd half of the season, and not necessarily what the next episode is. Most of the clips in that promo are from the 2 hour Justice Society "movie" called "Absolute Justice" that will air on Feb 5th. It was supposed to be two episodes that tied together, but they decided to air it seamlessly in one sitting.
The first episode coming back in January will be about

The second episode is

After those two episodes we get the Justice Society "movie".
Just scored seasons 1 - 8 on Amazon for $86. Yay for Black Friday. :D
Who is the guy in the gas mask?
YUS FOR GREEN LANTERN.
seasons 1-5 were a good high school show, 6-7 got kind of stale and dark(which CAN be good, but in this case was perpetual boredom with Lanna and Lex drama), 8+ is getting to be the best in the show's history now that it is making it's own way and reaching out to other comics for good storylines. Hopefully, the Zod focus of the season doesn't become too stale...
Well Seasons 1-5 were designed to target high school teens so it had that really weird teeny bop feel to it. Season 6 was pretty awkward because the show was starting to make the transition from all the characters going up and becoming young adults. This is definitely shaping out to be one of the better seasons mainly because of its dark tones which is completely different from previous seasons and Clark finally embracing his destiny instead of running from it like in previous seasons.
Comicvine has some images of the heroes from the JSA episode:

Hawkman looks pretty silly there, hope it's just a bad shot.
