The whole deal with the hook-ups is because they are very unnatural in any sense of social normality, Sheldon & Amy are very funny together because they are so like eachother in the fact that they discussed having a kid without even kissing which is how you would probably expect people who behave in such a way. Howard and Bernadette are very akward together as well which can be funny but tiresome as well. The show isn't turning into a rom-com its still a comedy which occasionally features the humor involved from the stereotypical social akwardness we expect from people who have no social skills.

If by 'occasionally' you mean 'every fucking episode so far this season' then yeah I guess.

With 14 million viewers an episode and the bidding for the rerun rights topping Seinfeld, I don't see how it doesn't go at least seven seasons.

Hence why, maybe, the "occasional" melding of romance. It seems to be the norm in a lot of shows--either in response to or to effect ratings. My guess is that they use it in hopes of luring in a broader/different crowd (ie: female or the like). *shrugs*

At least it's not following the sad old track that many good shows fall into (ie scrubs) where the main guy and the main girl hook up and break up like 7 million different times.

I didn't think Leonard and Penny worked well as a couple. They're both much better as straight men to Sheldon. Together they're rather dull.

I would like more nerdiness and more continuing nerdiness storyline stuff, not just romance. I do like the Bernadette character though, she and Howard are quite nice together and almost believable. If that's all the romance in this series I'd be happy.

What the hell have they done to Sheldon? He acts like a complete idiot now. He was much better when he was smarter than everyone and could put them all in their place in his own special way.

Penny is looking much better though.
