So yea the new update is out and now I'm getting this error:

"File is locked and cannot be patched: C:\program files\ncsoft\launcher\NCLauncher.exe"

Fuck is this? The launcher launched just fine and when I went to apply the update it just now locked? Uh, what? Yes I am running it as administrator and it's still being gay.

Just a tip on information after you update it. If you launch from Launcher you will get a duplacate ID error but

IF you use the Aion account that is create on desktop it loads fine

Might be a HDD problem (or try to make sure directX and .net framework are installed/updated)

I reinstalled again and the error went away, now it's just not recognizing Aion like everyone else is experiencing, still haven't been able to update aion though, but now it isn't minimizing to the tray anymore like it used to, fucking awesome. My luck lately has just been fanfuckingtastic.

I love how they apply a new patch, right before pre-selection, that is causing ppl problems... haha... why couldn't they apply such a patch Saturday or something and give time for errors to be worked out instead of preventing ppl from being able to rush-reserve their 2 names. Just another failure on their end

A LOT of people are having the issue of the missing Aion, NCsoft is working on fixing that but why the fuck didn't they release this earlier in the week instead of doing this right now? What a bunch of idiots.

Just like how they change server-sets 2x after the initial release... they are so unorganized w/their info that it's retarded. Launch may end up being smooth, but their lv of idiocy on timing and coordination is high. You apply a patch like this after ppl had a chance to make their characters or a few days before. You don't release something like this hr's before ppl are gonna zerg rush the servers when they only want to make their characters. this patch does nothing for pre-selection so their decision to push it to live now is retarded

Okay fixed the minimize issue and the aion not showing issue.

Just download this:

http://aion.patcher.ncsoft.com/liteinstaller/aion.exe

And run it, it just re-registers it in the launcher. At least it worked for me. Manage to update Aion and now it works and can play.

Not to defend them or anything (well, I guess i am), but no matter what they do people are going to QQ Anyway. Release the patch yesterday = more QQ and people complaining about how it wont work for preselect.
Release it tomorrow = people whining about how they were at work and can't do preselect + complaining about how it probably wont work for headstart.
Release it sunday/monday of course people will whine how it ruins their headstart.

So honestly, there really isnt a better time to release a patch.
Thing that sucks for them is they're releasing it to stop QQing about GameGuard. (Yes, I know Gameguard is a piece of shit, but even still).
Yeah, might not be very organized, but I'm sure they're doing their best.
Can't make everybody happy.

Edit: Shit, we should be glad that they even tell us when a patch is going to happen. The game isnt even released yet so to be honest they don't really have an obligation to tell us when they're applying a patch. They're communicating with us to tell us stuff will happen soon with updating and such through even fucking twitter.

updated my version an bam! all i get after launching is a black screen which hangs up after a while and a little window which says aion can't be initialized or something. atm using the repair function, then trying the thing from leb. fingers crossed.

after the repair check was through, it starts to download a couple files. guess the patching wasn't so proper.

edit: no success w7, aion worked flawlessly before i let it update.
