I mathematically model thermal properties, mechanical properties, and interactions of carbon nanotubes and certain protein and polymers for a living. But I guess I can't be considered "professional" since I don't have a degree in this area (yet? I don't know exactly what area I want to get my Ph.D in yet).

I also tutor. ALOT. You've all seen how much I love to help people with math and physics homework, and now you see where that comes from. Degree or not, no one's going to tell me I'm not a professional when it comes to tutoring.

I'm a professional (registered/licensed) civil engineer.

I even have a nifty stamp I have to put on my designs/plans/specs/etc. that basically says "You can sue me if something goes wrong and you die".

To other professionals: How long is the process to get your license? For an engineer, you take this 8 hour exam when you're fresh out of college to become an Engineer-in-Training. Then you work under a professional engineer for four years, and then you get to take another 8-hour-exam for your license, if you pass.
