One of my friends broke his then 3 day old phone on a hand rail on a bus because of snake.

Biggest rage I've ever had at a game (which wasn't call of duty) was Grand Turismo. 23 hrs and 40-odd minutes into a 24 hour race and I spun out.

I wouldn't call it all the recent, but getting Khimari's and Tidus' ultimate weapons in FFX. That butterfly game for Khim is fucking riiiiiiiiiiiiiidiculous, and that getting less that 0.00 for Tidus in the chocobo racing had me raging hard.

I can't remember what year, but it was the first time Madden had an online option. I was getting my ass kicked by someone constantly pausing and lagging me out. I slammed my controller on the couch, which then bounced and hit my friend in the head. He proceeded to kick my ass with said controller.

Probably not? Don't get me wrong, Demon's Souls is hard, and there's literally no way to cheese your way through. You will die, a lot, often in unfair ways. But progression in DS is mostly learning to play better, learning enemy attack patterns and dodging/blocking accordingly, another big part is replaying stages so you know what enemies are waiting to ambush you and where. It's a game that forces you to get better at playing it, but once you do it becomes a lot more satisfying.

I love a challenging game but DS had some moments that really pushed the limits of my patience, and the learning curve is nearly vertical. If there was a way to make it less difficult I'm 99% sure I would have elected that option, but regardless of how I fail/succeed at the game I'm still glad I purchased it.

The feeling you get when you play DS is that the game itself is fantastic, but it's you the player who's not good enough, lol.

Pretty much every stage in Mega Man X6, especially the ones leading up to the end.

That and probably Othello on the NES since the CPU cheats like crazy.

does trying to get mario and luigi 3 to work on my cyclo count? it wouldn't have been so bad if I had known that games take about ten times as long to load the first time you use a new firmware... I was updating back and forth to various firmwares thinking 1.55 had bricked my fucking cyclo and alternately panicking/raging. thank god I didn't give up and kept trying games just to see if one would work, and eventually gave one the 30 seconds or so it needed to load.

One of my friends has broken over 13 controllers, two of which being wavebirds, thanks to Super Smash Bros Melee. He ended up getting a job at gamestop just for a discount on controllers >.>

never been a controller thrower in my adult life until very recently. a couple of really horrid blazblue matches pushed me over the edge. controller isn't quite broken but it definitely rattles and the left analog isn't 100% anymore <_< should really wear my headset more often, i don't get pissed off if i know people can hear me

I think for me, it was the time I did a marathon to get the stars thingie from beathing SMB3 3 times, filling all the slots. When I got to the final ending cs on the third run it froze the cart, reset the snes. All my data was wiped.

I had some controller breaking moments with my N64, or rather I would have if those things weren't so durable.

Trying to glitch over a wall on one course in Mario Kart 64 so I could win a gold controller from Nintendo Power
Trying to beat the stupid platforming crystal level in the terrible castlevania 64
Trying to get the last few stars in Super Mario 64
Trying to get gold medals on some of the stages in Blast Corps

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting

Man I really miss the days of having bulletproof controllers like that. My NES/SNES pads took the most savage beatings when I was a kid, and they still work to this day.

I really hope it wasn't Wario Stadium as this was not this hard to cheat on if you knew how to how powerslide.

Collecting Stars in Super Mario 64 was a lot of fun, except for getting 100 coins in the stage inside of the clock, took me weeks to get that one (though I wasn't exactly capable back then).

Aside from that the only time I've ever made my controller a tool of violence was when I had managed to get to the last boss in Sonic & Knuckles for the second time ever (lost the first time, 8 year-old kid and "strategy" don't mix too well) and let my brother finish the job. He lost horribly and since kids tend to have that "I'll never be able to get here again"-mentality I wound up smacking him upside the head with my controller.
My father didn't like that part too much, guess he's the reason why I've never used my controller for such stuff again.

Instead I now punch the wall or rip my headsets apart (one particularly frustrating Goldsmithing stage cost me my headset and my hand felt like it was broken), well, whatever.

FFX, 199 lightning bolts and then you blink.

I didn't break a controller, my tv is still all right and all... but my heart has a scar that won't heal

Oh and when you're not grinding for the overpowered weapons, Valkyrie profile 2 has its moments.

that's the one thing that bothers me about VP2, it starts out balanced but quickly becomes one of two games: either you grind for awesome weapons and nothing can touch you, or you don't and the game's extremely difficult. there's not much middle ground.
