Happy Caster ISNM

So far i havent been able to find any other posts on the subject.

just wondering if anyone noticed any changes to the Happy Caster ISNM, i used to solo it on blm but since the last version update Two Faced Flan started casting a lot less frequent than it used to making it a fair bit more difficult to solo (havent been able to since).

Intentional change or not?

Some friends and I noticed this as well, since we used to trio (Red Mage, Blue Mage, and either a Dark Knight or Monk) it with no problems. After the most recent patch it began to damn-near oneshot us with Amorphic Spikes, while almost never going into casting mode. The whole thing went from a smooth ride with the occasional hiccup to a one mistake and you're dead scenario.

No idea why they did it, but the fight is definitely different than it was before the patch.

definatly noticed a changed myself.
the BLM BLM duo used to be easy as hell but the last few runs has been really difficult simply because he doesn't stop to cast as much as he used to.
although we won it was alot tougher than it used to be

nin/drk can actually solo this with shurikens and running in for Jin, etc. some vid of a JP doing it is out there somewhere.
Edit: i havent done this in awhile, my bad on not reading OP, maybe this means nin/drk cant solo anymore (i hope not, i wanted to try it D: )

Depends what you use, the cheapest have decentish DPS (9.06) and cost ~5k for 99.

Even the expensive crafted ones aren't crazy if you make them yourself and can HQ, 6-8k for 99.

I really doubt it >.> I think it was moreso for the challenge to say "I did it".

Presuming no ones raping the NPC's that sell it, a stack of the lowest lvl ones go for about 3k, from NPC, which is roughly cost price (on my server) per NQ synth. So unless you can constantly HQ2/3, you might as well buy from NPC.

Juji's (which are the ones I think you were talking about) arent that bad either, iron and steel are pretty cheap. and can still T3 it (smithing 44). These are sold by npc as well, but a little pricey (350g at best). It costs about 7k per synth.

Manji's using darksteel are where it starts to hurt, and its no longer a t3 synth. Lets not even look at Fumas haha.


SE should have changed the ashu talif BC's to load a a Koga Shuriken pouch instead of just one shuriken, seeing as how they arent even NPCable, wouldnt really hurt anything, and would give them, and probably sange, a practical use.

Or you know, they could have done the best update for NIN of all time which would have been to amend the recipes but that's not likely going to happen, ever. NIN has a lot of amazing gear to emphasize Shuriken use (Koga Chainmail, Ninja Tekko +1, etc) but it's all wasted due to the obscene production cost. Farming the mats doesn't make it any less expensive either; it just means you traded time that could have been spent making gil for the materials; you're still giving something up in other words.

I, too, have noticed this change. We used to trio this easy-peasy, but now Amorphic Spikes without full shadows is 900+ damage when it used to be about 350.
