lol.
For some real information, the game is being done by Cavia(Cavia (company) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) while SE is publishing it. Cavia has made some pretty good games for various publishers.
From my understanding the situation is like this:
Nier Gestalt is for the Xbox360 and Nier RepliCant is for the PS3. You play the character Nier in both games. Nier looks different in RepliCant(difference in age? Older in Gestalt?) The backgrounds for the games are very similar in that you are looking for a cure for an ill family member, but it is a different family member depending on the game. The relationship between these games is vague at the moment. It would appear to be two separate games. (To throw in a pet theory: the rugged manly Nier stars in the America centric Xbox360 entry, the attractive boy Nier stars in the Japan centric PS3 entry. Not unlike the initial plan for The Last Remnant.)

Don't be a RepliCant when you can be a RepliCan
oh and fucking lol at your Ico comment
speaking of Cavia I kinda liked Bullet Witch, tbh
yea especially considering it's around 15 bucks used these days, the action/spells make you feel completely badass and combat flows pretty well when you learn to play it well. I really enjoyed smashing the shit out of demons with parked cars and calling down massive lighting strikes.
I guess reviewers harped upon the subpar graphics and gameplay glitches, but if you look at it like an arcade action game along the lines of P.N.03 it's pretty decent. My only real complaint is that debris from explosions should be ornamental, I got hit a few times by pieces of crap that were moving way too fast to dodge and died instantly.
edit: the first Drakengard was pretty good too, had some great music and was pretty good for a single-player dynasty warriors/panzer dragoon hybrid, although somewhat overly difficult. The story was pretty freaky, there were some REALLY disturbing moments (woman giving up her womb, guy doing his sister, etc), although from what I understand some of the things that made the game make sense were cut from the US release. Anyone play both Drakengards care to comment on how good/bad #2 was in comparison to the first?

Bumping this with new info and a preview, has been further defined as a Action-RPG, looks to have deep weapon upgrade system and lots of customization options. Releases in May for both consoles.
Im personally interested to see how it turns out, seems like it has great potential and as BRP said earlier last year when the thread was created, Cavia has made some pretty good games.
Isn't this the one about the girl with cock main character?
The main character is Nier, but one of the people he encounters within the game is a hermaphrodite yes.
Anyone pick this up? I just came back from the gamestop with it haven't had a chance to play it
Saw it in the shops, but wasn't exactly sure what it was. I didn't feel like impulse buying it though, so lemme know what your thoughts are on it.
More info on the herm, prz.
Just from first impression been playing about 30 mins mind you.
I'll describe it by comparing it to other games.
It has cheesy lines but overall it feels very nostalgic of classic final fantasy in that it doesn't have a lot of Voice over when your running about towns and very basic dialogue when interacting with NPC's .
The Battle system is devil may cry meets GOW only not as polished
The character design is very familiar as well. (I could've sworn Nier's daughter looks like a tarutaru.
