    Directx Problem

    So I'm getting the same problem I had while trying to run one of the CBs a few weeks ago...

    I've installed, patched, and repaired Aion a number of times. When I run it I get an error:

    CRITICAL ERROR: Error loading DLL: XRenderD3D9.dll error code 998, Invalid access to memory location.

    I assume its a Directx problem but am still having troubles. I run Vista 64 and have a GTX280 so Directx10 is what I've been using. On the advice of other forums, I've installed all Directx 9.0c updates hoping this would remedy the problem. Unfortunately it hasn't.

    Since Vista comes with x10, would there be a problem with 9.0c not installing correctly? Registry verifies I am running DX10 and I'm not sure how to fix the problem. Anyone else had this before, or is running Aion on Vista 64?

    I'm running Aion on vista64 and it's working fine; never had that error so far. :s

    I had an issue with another game running win7 64-bit, and I fixed the issue by reinstalling the directx 9.0c runtime. I'd give you a link, but there are so many different installers for 9.0c that I don't remember which one fixed it. I see you said you installed it, but you may want to check to see if there's a different version you didn't try and install that in case it fixes your problem.

    Because of how DX10 was rewritten from the ground up omitting backwards compatability, you still need the DX9 installer since the DX 9Ex emulation in Vista/7 lacks the latest tweaks they keep doing to DX9 that newer games use. Grab the latest DX 9.0c installer from Aug 2009 from Microsoft. Since I've been too lazy to post before, I can't give you a link until 10 posts lol.
