Which is why i cringe whenever i see SM's with cast speed weapons, its a nearly useless stat for them: their longest cast is 2s and its not effected by cast speed. Attack speed is leaps and bounds better for SM because of the animation reductions.

Summon spirits and flame bolt added to my spell cast roster on my SM. Gives me a lil bit more damage but I plan on combining my Penteros's Diary with Noble Terrifying Tome once my SM is 47.

eh? you shouldn't "cringe" about it, it's not like it's useless on them, it's just not as vital as it is for sorcerers. it's not like there are many attack speed weapons for SM to begin with (and none were added in 2.0)

so the only options are A.spd for SM are kromedes tome, alukina's tome/orb, terrifying tome(elyos only), jeshuchi's tome.

one is basicly unobtainable at lv50 (kromedes) and another is being removed from it's bosses loot pool in 2.0 (jeshuchi's)

Considering 95% of a SM's abilities are either instant or .5-1s cast, yeah its useless. Even more so because there's a delay in Pet Command damage, and DoT's tick at a set rate that isn't affected by cast speed (ex: landing IP ~.24s earlier yields a 0 dps increase over a normal skill rotation, landing a flame spray .64s earlier does). I've got both classes at 50, its painfully apparent how little SM benefits from cast speed.

They're phasing out attack speed off mage gear all together, its a moot point because NCsoft has already shown they don't give two shits about SM.

just finished putting crit +13s into my glad's daeva set and got it all +10. also managed to farm up 3 water spirit 2 books in a single day. gave one to a friend thats leveling sm.

not much of an accomplishment these days but im damn happy about it.

EDIT: just went to elysea for the first time on my glad to do the Elim in Elysea quest for my title. had 5 reds, 1 pink, and 2 purples chasing me and they couldnt even dent me. even while i was stopped to talk to the elims. :D i love my daeva set.
