    Help me find a laptop.

Basically, I am looking for a laptop to meet my needs. First off the most important thing, my pricing. Looking for no more than 500. Will be using the laptop for music / internet browsing / school stuff i.e C++ / Word / Excel etc... No gaming will be done on this, aside from poker and flash games. What I have found so far:

    Toshiba - Satellite Laptop with AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual-Core Processor - L505D-S5965

    Amazon.com: Acer AS5536-5526 15.6-Inch Laptop - Blue: Computer & Accessories

    Amazon.com: Compaq Presario CQ60-410US 15.6-Inch Laptop: Computer & Accessories

Really am looking for a laptop with 2.0+ Ghz, and at least 2G of RAM. 160GB HD should be sufficient, but 250 wouldn't hurt.

I don't really like Acer's, but if you could point me at one that you strongly would recommend, I definitely will take a look at it. I am VERY anal about spending money, so I look for weeks before I make a purchase, especially on electronics. Really am leaning towards that Toshiba from bestbuy, if anyone could recommend something else or enlighten me on a good choice, would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou.

Without recommending specifics I'll just link some common things I check for when looking to make purchases like this. Helps a lot to feel like you're getting a good deal simply for the sake of biting the bullet on something, along with saving money and getting something better than you planned for the money you want to spend. lol Hope it halps!

I have a 1005HA EEEPC, and I do the above on it. Handles pretty much everything I've thrown at it, and other than taking awhile to install visual studio on it (which takes awhile to install on anything) it works fine. Its light and portable for taking to classes/around campus. The main thing for me was that is has an advertized 10.5hrs batterylife, when using it alot it really seems to have 8~9. If you let it idle on occasion it can get pretty close to that 10~ hour mark. Just saying the margin between laptop (giant screen, faster processor, low battery life) has been getting pretty blurred from that of a netbook. So don't exclude them from your searches for what you want. (I believe I paid around 380~400 for my netbook)

As far as Toshiba are concerned, anyone that works on laptops, or has broken one of these before knows, they are ass to repair so expect to pay out the butt if you break off an ac adapter in the plug, or have any other type of failure that requires a technician to repair.
