assuming you're in a discrete group, so you're getting SV minuet x2, rather than march. if you're really lucky, you'll get a SV prelude or two from a 2nd brd, but this is rare. in that event, ignore swapping in acc gear for barrage.

culverin/cannon shells
wyvern helm/pcc(breeze for ws), bushi/vision(i need to augment some ruby earrings)
osode/seiryu's kote(crimson bad for DL)/rajas/flame
amemet +1/buccaneer's belt/af2 legs/af2 feet
food of choice: red curry (now red curry buns, but back when i was fighting DL regularly, that's what was the best choice available.)
mind you, this set up has DL in mind, ie, your acc is likely to be capped, and so you want to load up on as much str and attack as possible.
my normal procedure is sleep to 150% tp, then, as the mob comes into range:
get into 4.5-5.5 range > berserk > warcry > activate barrage and sharpshot > slug shot > barrage (swapping in ohat and merman's x2 for acc) > (switch back to str build) slug shot > icarus wing > slug shot > eagle eye shot. all in all, takes about 20-25 seconds if rapid shot is on your side, 40ish if it doesn't.
i know there are bits that could be better (dusk legs and getting my MKD hat), but this build and method have served me well.
if you're tending to fight something like DL with less people, ie, the fight is likely to last closer to a minute rather than 30s, it can be helpful to quickly set up a warcry rotation amongst the other rngs you're with.
oh, and i almost forgot, i do my best to swap in a fresh set of shells after barrage, so that in the event that i've gotta fire off a few extra shots as the mob goes down, i don't run out of ammo and then have to reload.
What's your numbers on your initial slugshot with full buffs? Back when I did have a nice set ( around 2 years ago ) I did maybe 14xx-15xx .. Haven't really been playing around with these new gears which I still need to obtain ( ACP Body, Kupo head, SCNM head ) I was wondering if it's even possible to hit 16xx or even 17xx.
my average initial slugshot tended to be around 1700. i wish i had ss to illustrate, but regrettably i don't (even if i had attempted, the battle spam from kclub drks would've made that task difficult). my averages tended to be between 1500-1700. the only thing i can think of is that i'm elvaan and you're taru, but i have a hard time believing that it would account for discrepancies of 100-300 dmg.
short answer is yes, you can hit 1700. i've seen people hit 1800, but they had gear and merits superior to mine (i only have 4 marksmanship merits due to having sam and mnk at 8/8 ). part of it may be the retardedness of SE making use stand at various distances, which is very very difficult to do all the time. i've had differences in my slugshot (just in general) that have varied 100 points or more, just because i had to fire it off at a less than ideal difference. this can happen a lot if your drks don't stand near the tank, the tank dies early so it goes after the next person on the hate list (ebow rngs tend to do this to me if they hit a very high initial ws, especially if they fire it off as DL comes down the ramp, before the tank has a chance to invincible) or if a whm bene's too early.
DL isn't evasive at all, and with feint on you wont have the slightest problem hitting him.
(unneccisary to swap in r.acc for barrage, as you'll be at acc cap anyways etc, even at capped accuracy it's only ~70% chance to hit a full barrage, nothing to be done about it)
What I use is (haven't done DL since I got the RNG Moogle cap):
Vulcan/Axe Grip/Culverin/Shell
Wyvern +1/Kubira Bead (Approriate Gorget for WS)/Bushi/Triumph
Osode/Blood Finger Gaunlets/Flame/Rajas
Amemet +1/Buccaneer/Pahluwaan/Scout Socks
DL is usually done with 2xSV Minuet, Angon + Dia III and feint (I never had the pleasure of having a cor with chaos at DL yet D: ). I use Heavy Shell for first slugshot with Flashy Shot/Unlimited shot. That will hit for just over 3k mostly.
Then Barrage with AF1+1 hands for another 3k (assuming all shot hits), slugshot for 2.5k -> Ic wing -> slugshot for 2.5k -> EES for 2kish and about that time DL should be dead. If everything hits as it should you'll do over 10k dmg easily. What can screw it up is barrage missing some hits, compensate with EES if you need 1 more hit for 100% TP etc.
Any of you guys tried that Kupo head or ACP body? Saw some sick augments for the Kupo head that can maybe put Wyvern Helm +1 to shame?
My Mirke is a TP body, and my Anwig Salade is +4 STR +15 WSAcc, +4 AGI +2% WSDmg which will outdo Wyvern +1 in Zerg. And the WSAcc is godly for slugwinder in pretty much any scenario.![]()

Yeah I put my Archer's Jupon in storage when I got my Mirke (RATK +10, Snapshot +5%).
